Today’s Best MLB Same Game Parlay Bets
Check out our best MLB same-game parlay picks and predictions for today.
Detroit Tigers at Cleveland Guardians
Guardians -1.5 (+170) and o4.5 Runs (+150)
The Guardians’ offense has been the worst in the league by wRC+, and the numbers are not much better versus left-handed starters. However, based on pure talent, this offense is not quite this poor. They are facing Eduardo Rodriguez, who is off to an excellent start. However, there are some concerning signs in his profile. The K numbers are lower than his career norms, and he has an extremely low BABIP. The Guardians’ offense puts lots of balls in play, and this could be the beginning of the BABIP regression for E-Rod.
Peyton Battenfield is throwing for Cleveland, and his numbers since his call-up do not appear to be very impressive, but I think it is clouding real skills. His walk numbers are elevated, but he is coming off a zero walk performance and his minor league numbers are full of low walk-rate seasons. The Tigers’ offense has been better of late, but it is not very good overall, and Battenfield should be able to continue his success.
While his wRC+ numbers are not as impressive as usual, Ramirez is still doing everything that has made him great. He makes a ton of contact and walks more than he strikes out. J-Ram has actually been better against right-handers than left, but he’s still their best hitter overall, and he is the safest bet for two-plus total bases.
Combined Odds: +500
Houston Astros at Los Angeles Angels
Astros -1.5 (+130) and o6.5 Runs (+185)
This is mostly a bet against Griffin Canning and his home run issues. Quietly, Angels Stadium is one of the top parks for home runs in all of baseball. Houston’s offense has been below average this season, but there is still a ton of talent in this offense and the potential for a crooked number. Canning has allowed more than one HR/9 this season, as well as more than 1.5 HR/9 in his career. He also walks far too many hitters making those home runs even more costly. The other side of the game has Cristian Javier take the ball, and he is still one of the best young arms in all of baseball. The Astros may have gotten off to a slow start, but they will always be dangerous.
Kyle Tucker 2+ TBs (+135)
While the Astros have had issues offensively, Tucker is not one of the guys leading those struggles. While his 120 wRC+ is not his career highs, he is still an extremely productive hitter with tons of power. He is a great bet to take Canning deep, or at least for extra bases.
Combined Odds: +475
St. Louis Cardinals at Chicago Cubs
Cardinals -1.5 (+145) and o4.5 Runs (+125)
The Cardinals’ season has been a massive disappointment, but it would shock no one if they managed to turn their season around. The main issue for them has been on the pitching side, with the tenth-worst ERA in baseball. Their offense, however, has been well above average and actually top-five against left-handed pitchers.
They get Justin Steele, who has been excellent with an ERA below two. However, the skills paint him as more of a three-ERA pitcher, and I think this is the spot for his first real hiccup. This Cardinals’ offense is going to be able to do some damage against him. Jordan Montgomery takes the ball for St. Louis, and he has been one of the only arms that has actually been successful for them. He has a 3.29 ERA, and his FIP is actually even better. As always, he has average K numbers and exceptional walk rates, but he limits walks extremely well. He should put them in a position to win.
Paul DeJong 2+ TBs (+210)
Interestingly, DeJong doesn’t have elite numbers against left-handed pitching in his career, but he has been off to a hot start in 2023. He is showing skill improvement with a big drop in his overall K% and is hitting for a ton of power. He should be able to remain hot in this one and do damage against Steele.
Combined Odds: +550
