Atlanta Braves at New York Yankees

The Yankees are on the worst stretch of their mostly dominant season. They have now dropped six of their last eight and have won just one series in their previous four. This was one of the more dominant pitching staffs in the league, and it has been awful, with a 7.18 ERA in those last eight. This especially goes for the starting pitching; Carlos Rodon going 3.2 innings on Friday is the first time a Yankees starter pitched fewer than four innings this season. Marcus Stroman hasn't enjoyed his June with a 5.28 ERA in three starts.

On May 1st, the Braves were a half-game up on the Phillies in the National League East, but that was the last time they held the lead. Much of that has to do with Philadelphia going on a stellar run, but Atlanta’s offense started to sputter, hitting .223 from May 2 to June 12, which was last in that span, and their .654 OPS was 28th. Since then, they have batted .280 with a .831 OPS, both top-seven numbers. Charlie Morton is in his age-40 season and it doesn't look like he's ready to retire. Many of his numbers are better than last year, including WHIP, FIP, hits and walks per nine.

Morton has seven starts in Yankees Stadium, with a 4.95 ERA, and averages a home run allowed per start. This Atlanta roster has a collective .299 average with a .418 slugging rate against Stroman. Anticipate a high-scoring game.

Arizona Diamondbacks at Philadelphia Phillies

The Phillies have lost a couple of games on their lead in the National League East, but at seven, they still have space. The team has been on a little bit of a slide lately, dropping six of their last nine. They still have a lot of power and are scoring 4.7 runs per game, but the rotation has had a couple of bad starts lately, with Aaron Nola, Ranger Suarez and Zach Wheeler each getting lit up. Wheeler is coming off one of the worst starts of his career, allowing eight earned and four home runs against the Orioles, who have some of the best power numbers in the league.

Now he'll go from facing an Orioles lineup with the best home run percentage to the Diamondbacks, who are 18th. They still can hit for average, with .254 being just two points behind Philly for sixth. With the offense being so good, why hasn't it translated to wins? The pitching has struggled with a 4.48 ERA, not much more than during their pennant run when it was 4.39. Hopefully, it'll help when they get Merrill Kelly and Eduardo Rodriguez healthy. Tommy Henry started the season in the rotation but had a 5.40 ERA in six starts, so he went to the bullpen, where he had a 9.95 ERA in two appearances.

Although the Diamondbacks might put up some runs again, it's hard to trust a struggling pitcher like Henry against this Phillies lineup.
