MLB Same Game Parlay Odds & Picks: Wednesday (8/28)

When betting on baseball, same-game parlays (SGPs) offer an extra sizzle and spice. These SGPs allow you to combine multiple legs into a single, customizable wager with potentially massive payouts. Whether you're a seasoned bettor or a curious newcomer, same-game parlays provide an enticing way to engage with America's favorite pastime.

I missed both parlays last week by a single leg, which is tough but we're still up on the season. Remember, these are high-risk, high-reward bets, so you won't be hitting winners every day, but when you do, it'll be well worth it. Remember to shop around for the best odds. It's been a bit of a tough couple of weeks, missing parlays by one leg. But hey, we bounce back. Let's get to it.

Chicago Cubs at Pittsburgh Pirates

With Paul Skenes on the mound, backing the Pirates is a simple strategy for an SGP. The Pirates have a 5.63 run support average with Skenes on the mound and put up seven runs against Cincinnati in his last start. Skenes has a pitch limit on the season but when he starts he wheels and deals. I'm sure he's plenty aware of the Rookie of the Year race.

In two of his last three starts, he's gone over the strikeout number. In his last start against the Cubs, he racked up 11, in Chicago. His day game splits put his ERA under 2.00 while his strikeout numbers increased. No one in the Cubs lineup has hit Skenes well and he threw six hitless innings in his last start against the Cubs.

In each of his last three starts, he's reached six innings, so he should set up the Pirates for success. Kyle Hendricks has lost his edge and the Pirates have seen Hendricks more than nearly any other pitcher in the league, and many of them have hit him well. The Cubs starter has a 7.16 road ERA and a 6.89 day ERA. Even pitching to average, Pittsburgh should get to six runs and we can cash this parlay.

Parlay Odds: +580

New York Yankees at Washington Nationals

  • Leg 1: Yankees -3.5 (+230)
  • Leg 2: 5th Inning Over 0.5 Runs (-105)
  • Leg 3: Yankees Over 6.5 Runs (+176)

All I have to see is that Aaron Judge is 2-for-3 with two home runs against MacKenzie Gore and I am in on the Yankees scoring plenty here today. Juan Soto has also hit him well in limited at-bats and nearly all of the projected starting lineup has seen Gore at least once.

Gore historically this season blows up after the second time through the lineup, allowing a .362 batting average the third time through with a 6.30 ERA in the fifth inning. If you think he starts the game well, that number jumps to 9.00 in the sixth inning. The Yankees scoring in the fifth or sixth inning feels inevitable.

The Nationals’ bullpen ranks in the bottom half of the league and it's only gotten worse since the All-Star break. Carlos Rodon has been playing better of late with two of his last three starts going scoreless, owning a 2.40 ERA in that span. Everything is lining up right for the Yankees.

Baltimore Orioles at Los Angeles Dodgers

This is a fun risky parlay and I'll give you plenty of splits if you care to mix and match what I laid out for you. My essential main take is that there are going to be runs galore here. You see Corbin Burnes vs. Walker Buehler and immediately want to bet unders on name recognition alone. And that's what it seems like the market is priced at. But recent play has not been promising for either starter.

In his last five starts, Burnes is 2-2 with a 7.24 ERA. Against the Dodgers, he holds a career 6.12 ERA. Despite his 3.28 seasonal ERA, I'd be surprised by a shutdown outing. Freeman has seen Burnes well in his career, going 3-for-9, so I am trusting a solid outing by the future Hall of Famer. On the other side, Buehler has made just two starts since returning from injury and neither outing looked great. He's allowed six earned runs over his last 7.1 innings while allowing a .344 batting average. His splits against lefties haven't been great in his career and it's been even worse this year.

You could go with Anthony Santander or Adley Rutschman tonight as they will be hitting left-handed but I'm going with the pure hitter in Gunnar Henderson to tally at least two total bases. If you want to add a leg, take lefty hitters against Buehler and Orioles overs.
