St. Louis Cardinals vs Washington Nationals

      Leg #1: Cardinals Moneyline -1.5 (+135)

This isn't a matchup between two contenders, but it's a clear opportunity to fade one of the weakest pitching staffs in baseball. While both teams are in rebuilding phases, the edge here comes down to pitching.

The Nationals' offense has been a surprise early on, ranking in the top three in runs scored through the first few weeks. But that production has masked a much bigger issue - their pitching.

Washington owns the worst team ERA in MLB at 6.06, and it actually gets worse under the hood with a 6.28 xERA. They've already allowed a league-high 72 runs, and there's been little indication of improvement.

Miles Mikolas, now with Washington, has been hit extremely hard to start the year. In two outings, he's 0-2 with a 14.46 ERA, allowing 15 earned runs across just nine innings. That's a brutal profile against a Cardinals lineup that should be able to generate consistent offense.

On the other side, Michael McGreevy doesn't necessarily bring dominant stuff, but he's been more stable, which is all St. Louis needs in this spot, given the mismatch on the other side.

Leg #2: Cardinals Team Total Over 3.5 Runs (-155)

This play goes along with everything we said above. Taking advantage of a weak starter plus a depleted bullpen.

The Nationals have used seven different relievers in the last two games, and only two have thrown fewer than 20 pitches.

      Leg #3: Michael McGreevy 4+ Strikeouts (-125)

Out of all three legs of this parlay, this is the one I feel least confident in, just because Michael McGreevy does not have great strikeout stuff. But even so, he has hit this number in both of his starts this season.

These two teams battled into extra innings last night, and I'd expect the righty to have a bit of a longer leash today. There are some hitters in the Nationals’ projected lineup with a strikeout rate above 28%, which should help out McGreevey.
