Toronto Blue Jays vs. Chicago White Sox
(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)
- Leg 1: Blue Jays -1.5 (-120)
- Leg 2: Blue Jays First 5 Innings -0.5 (-130)
- Leg 3: Blue Jays Team Total Over 4.5 Runs (-106)
- Leg 4: Dylan Cease 8+ Strikeouts (+122)
The White Sox are slumping right out of the gate. Chicago is 1-5, while being outscored 48-12 in those five losses. Conversely, the Blue Jays are playing well over the first week. They're 4-2 and boast one of the league's potent offenses. Let's go all in on the reigning American League champs for this SGP.
Dylan Cease gets the start for Toronto in a favorable matchup. The White Sox have just a .192 collective batting average (27th) with a lofty 34% strikeout rate (29th). Meanwhile, Cease was dominant in his first outing against the Athletics. He struck out 12 batters over 5.1 innings while allowing only one run.
It's an excellent start for the right-hander, who had a 0.93 ERA and 12 strikeouts in 9.2 innings across three spring training outings. It seems he's carried that momentum into the regular season, and he can exploit a weak Chicago lineup that's already very strikeout-prone.
On the other side, Sean Burke is listed as the starter for the White Sox. He will eventually pitch the bulk of the innings. However, Grant Taylor will actually kick things off on the mound for Chicago.
Burke was shaky in his first start, allowing four runs on seven hits across four innings in a losing effort. Burke has to deal with a dangerous Toronto offense that has a .336 wOBA and 120 wRC+ (fifth). The Blue Jays have also scored five or more runs in four of their first six games this season.

Seattle Mariners vs. Los Angeles Angels
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
- Leg 1: Bryan Woo 7+ Strikeouts (-163)
- Leg 2: Reid Detmers 6+ Strikeouts (-155)
- Leg 3: Julio Rodriguez 2+ Hits + Runs + RBIs (-129)
The Mariners and Angels start up a three-game series on Friday night. Bryan Woo toes the rubber for Seattle while Reid Detmers gets the ball for Los Angeles. Let's back both pitchers, plus a hitter prop, in this American League West matchup.
Woo began the season on a high note, striking out nine in six strong innings last weekend. The Mariners right-hander can keep it going against a strikeout-prone lineup today. The Angels have a 29.6% strikeout rate so far this season, which is third-worst in the Majors. This continues a trend from last season, when the offense had a league-high 27.1% strikeout rate.
Woo faced the Angels twice last season and compiled 19 strikeouts across 12 innings. The righty is usually better at home, but he can rack up the punchouts against this offense. He had a 24.9% strikeout rate on the road a year ago.
As for Detmers, he recorded nine strikeouts in his season debut against the Astros. That's an encouraging sign for a pitcher who's re-entering the Angels' rotation after spending last season in the bullpen.
In that relief role, the left-hander posted a 32.9% strikeout rate at home. Back in 2024, his last season as a starter, Detmers had a strong 30.6% strikeout rate in his home outings. He'll face a Seattle lineup that has a lofty 27.8% strikeout rate so far this season (fifth-worst).
Though we're counting on strikeouts from Detmers, that doesn't mean Julio Rodriguez will go quietly. The Mariners star outfielder boasts some excellent head-to-head numbers against Detmers. Rodriguez is 6-for-10 in his career versus Detmers, with one homer and two doubles. He's also walked three times and has four RBI against him. Rodriguez has started this season slowly, but maybe this matchup wakes him up.
