Kansas City Royals at Los Angeles Angels
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
- Leg 1: Over 7.5 Total Runs (-157)
- Leg 2: Jac Caglianone Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-143)
- Leg 3: Bobby Witt Jr. Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-145)
- Leg 4: Wade Meckler Over 1.5 Hits + Runs +RBIs (-117)
Let's lead off our same-game parlays with the Angels hosting the Royals in an American League matchup. This should be a higher-scoring game, given the starting pitchers involved. Grab the over to anchor our picks, with some hitter props mixed in as well.
Grayson Rodriguez gets the start for Los Angeles. The right-hander has an ugly 7.20 ERA and a 1.62 WHIP this season. He's especially struggled at home, with a 9.10 ERA across seven home outings. Rodriguez is also rocking a 6.75 ERA over five starts since the All-Star break.
Jac Caglianone and Bobby Witt Jr. should both produce for the Royals in this matchup. Caglianone is one of the hottest hitters in the league right now, with a .386 batting average and 1.116 OPS over his last 14 games. He's also better against right-handed pitchers, hitting .280 with an .853 OPS in the split. Rodriguez, meanwhile, is allowing a .325 average and .953 OPS to left-handed batters.
As for Witt, he's also swinging it well lately. Kansas City's star shortstop is batting .343 with an .839 OPS over his last 10 games. Witt owns a solid .275 batting average and .779 OPS against right-handed pitching this year as well.
On the other side, Seth Lugo brings in a 4.41 ERA and 1.37 WHIP for Kansas City. His 5.24 xERA and 4.52 xFIP aren't encouraging either. In this down year for the veteran, Lugo's 18.2% strikeout rate and 2.26 K/BB ratio are both the worst since his rookie season. Plus, he's posted a poor 5.31 ERA on the road thus far.
Wade Meckler is a Los Angeles hitter to target against Lugo. The outfielder is thriving in the Angels' leadoff spot. He's batting .333 with an .815 OPS over his last 25 games, and .333 with an .831 OPS over his past 11 games. Meckler brings in a .313 batting average against right-handed pitching, and a .327 average with a .907 OPS at home. Lugo, meanwhile, is allowing a .283 average and .804 OPS to left-handed batters.

Miami Marlins at Cincinnati Reds
(Odds courtesy of BetMGM)
- Leg 1: Under 8.5 Runs (-145)
- Leg 2: Sandy Alcantara 6+ Strikeouts (-130)
- Leg 3: Chase Burns Under 2.5 Earned Runs (-165)
- Leg 4: Elly De La Cruz 2+ Hits + Runs + RBIs (-155)
Let's now turn our attention to the Reds hosting the Marlins on Friday night. The starting pitchers should anchor a low-scoring contest as Sandy Alcantara takes on Chase Burns. Take the under with some pitcher props to round out this same-game parlay.
Alcantara is pitching very well for Miami lately, posting a 1.88 ERA over his last seven outings. He's also struck out at least seven batters in four of his last seven starts. The right-hander isn't as consistently dominant as he was a few years ago, but his 6.2% walk rate (85th percentile) and 5.7% barrel rate (79th percentile) are encouraging.
Today, Alcantara gets a favorable road matchup. The Reds have a league-high 29.5% strikeout rate against right-handed pitching in August. They're also batting just .195 versus righties this month, which ranks 29th in the Majors. Cincinnati's .224 batting average and 25.6% strikeout rate against right-handers this season both rank last in the league.
Meanwhile, Burns should limit the Marlins’ offense as well. He's rocking a 2.61 ERA with some impressive advanced metrics. The right-hander has a 28.5% strikeout rate (86th percentile), with a 31.7% whiff rate (90th percentile) and a .207 xBA (85th percentile). Burns also has a 2.20 ERA at home this year. He'll be poised to bounce back after coughing up five runs on the road in his last outing.
Although we're counting on a low-scoring matchup, one hitter prop is worth backing. Alcantara's 4.32 ERA on the road means the Reds should put up some runs. Elly De La Cruz can be a key part of that. The Reds shortstop is hitting .309 with a .953 OPS at home this season. He's also produced at least two combined hits + runs + RBIs in six of his last 10 games and in 18 of his last 30 games.
