Saturday’s Best MLB Same Game Parlays & Picks

(Odds courtesy of Fanduel Sportsbook)

San Francisco Giants at Chicago White Sox

Just like everyone else in the National League West chasing the Dodgers, the Giants are falling out of the division race. They come in 4-8 in their last 11 and are now 6.5 games out of first place in the division.

Robbie Ray is putting up a Cy Young Award-worthy campaign as he leads the National League with eight wins and is fifth in the league by allowing 6.92 hits per nine innings. His game is to force you to hit weak fly balls, and we could see that against the White Sox. When Chicago hits them in the air, they stay in the ballpark with the third-worst HR/FB ratio (7.9%).

San Diego Padres at Cincinnati Reds

The Reds have been inconsistent most of the year, but right now they are on a nice run by winning eight of the last 11. They looked great last night with the offense scoring eight runs, and starter Nick Martinez took a no-hitter into the ninth. They have their best arm going tonight as Andrew Abbott is a real Cy Young contender. He's coming in with a 1.79 ERA on the season, second-best in the league, and he gives his team a chance to win every time he’s on the mound. The Reds are 10-3 in his starts.

Abbott's fastball isn't overpowering, but it has great movement, and it tends to rise in the zone. He’s also increased the use of his change-up, which is keeping hitters off balance. He's only seen this Padres lineup for 37 plate appearances, but they couldn't touch him, recording a team .111 batting average.

St. Louis Cardinals at Cleveland Guardians

It could be a tough year for Miles Mikolas, as he could have his fourth straight season of a 4.00 ERA or worse. He was pitching well for a little while with the Cardinals winning all seven of his starts, but he's back to slumping, losing his last three starts with a 5.39 ERA.

Mikolas has never been an overpowering pitcher, but he seems to approach his opposition like one because he tends to throw at the heart of the plate rather than trying to paint corners. This is how his whiff rate is in the first percentile, and his barrel rate is in the 32nd percentile. The Guardians are another team that has hit him well, with a .345 weighted on-base average.
