Athletics at Atlanta Braves

Chris Sale 10+ Strikeouts (+173)

Chris Sale opened the season with six strikeouts in a tough matchup against a Royals lineup that has consistently done a strong job avoiding punchouts. Kansas City struck out just 300 times against left-handed pitching last season, the second-fewest in Major League Baseball.

Sale has a much more favorable matchup today. To start the season, the Athletics have already gathered 59 at-bats against lefties, striking out 23 times, third-most thus far.

Michael Harris II 1+ Hits (-167)

I originally looked at Drake Baldwin, but with him catching last night and this being an early afternoon start, there's at least some risk he doesn't crack the lineup. That makes Michael Harris II the safer play.

Harris has started the season swinging it well against right-handed pitching, hitting .400 in those matchups. He's also had success against Luis Severino in a small but notable sample - 4-for-8 with a double, a home run and two singles.

Braves -1 (-164)

After dropping a 5-2 game last night, this feels like a strong bounce-back spot for Atlanta as they look to close out the homestand on a winning note before heading to Arizona

Matt Olson, Ronald Acuna Jr, Austin Riley and Michael Harris II all have batting averages north of .350 against Severino in their careers.

If Sale does his part on the mound, the Braves should have a good chance to create some separation and cover the run line.

Colorado Rockies at Toronto Blue Jays

Kevin Gausman 8+ Strikeouts (+118)

After carving up the Athletics in his first start, Kevin Gausman gets another favorable matchup against the Rockies.

The Rockies have struck out 40 times this season versus right-handed pitchers, the ninth-most in the league. Last season, Colorado struck out 1177 times versus righties, the second-most in all of baseball. It looks as if that trend will continue into 2026.

Gausman's pitch mix is a nightmare matchup for this Rockies lineup. He leans heavily on his fastball/splitter combo, and that profile directly attacks one of Colorado's biggest weaknesses - swings-and-misses against those pitch types.

While the lineup hasn’t been confirmed yet, normal starters like Willi Castro, Benton Doyle, Jordan Beck, Hunter Goodman, Ezequiel Tovar and Kyle Karros all have strikeout rates over 30% against fastballs and splitters.

This sets up as a ceiling spot for Gausman. If he's locating early, he has double-digit strikeout upside today.

Blue Jays -1.5 (-136)

Toronto holds a clear edge on both sides of the ball. Kevin Gausman gives them the advantage on the mound, while the Rockies’ offense has been largely non-competitive outside of one inflated performance.

That 14-run outburst two games ago is skewing the perception a bit. In every other game, Colorado has failed to score more than three runs.

Blue Jays Team Total Over 3.5 Runs (-230)

All signs point toward a controlled, one-sided game script.

Toronto's offense has picked up right where it left off in 2025, ranking near the top of the league across key metrics:

  • Third in on-base percentage (OBP)
  • Third in slugging rate
  • Ninth in ISO
  • Third in wRC+
  • Eighth in runs

As long as Gausman avoids any major issues on the mound, the Blue Jays should dictate this game, and their offense should do enough damage to comfortably clear this number.
