Wednesday’s Best MLB Same Game Parlays

San Diego Padres vs. Chicago Cubs

The Cubs have been one of the hottest teams in baseball, winning 11 of their last 14 games and coming off another dramatic victory over San Diego on Tuesday. They’ve consistently found ways to win close games, especially at Wrigley Field, where they’ve been extremely resilient late in games. Meanwhile, the Padres have now dropped four straight and continue to struggle with timely hitting.

The Cubs are one of the streakiest teams in baseball, and when they are hot, I will ride until the wheels fall off.

This may be my favorite leg of the parlay. If you are feeling extra spicy, you can take Suzuki for total bases, or maybe even a HR. His matchup looks amazing on paper against Padres' starter Walker Buehler.

Buehler loves to throw his sinker vs opposing right-handed hitters, which is where Suzuki stood out to me. Against opposing sinkers, he’s batting .326, slugging .543, with an average exit velocity of 91.4 and a barrel % of 11.4%. Suzuki has been one of Chicago’s hottest hitters and continues to deliver in big moments.

If Buehler can avoid early traffic, this number feels extremely attainable. Buehler has looked much closer to his old self this season, carrying a respectable 3.81 ERA with 70 strikeouts. He has hit this number in 7 of his last 8 starts, including 5 straight on the road.

Parlay Odds: +295

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Philadelphia Phillies

Skenes remains one of the most dominant strikeout pitchers in baseball, averaging well over a strikeout per inning with an elite fastball splinker/sweeper combination that generates plenty of swings and misses.

Even in his previous meeting against Philadelphia in May-when the Phillies eventually got to him for five earned runs-he still struck out seven hitters in just five innings.

The Phillies are an aggressive lineup. While they can punish mistakes, they’re also willing to swing early in counts, which often allows power pitchers like Skenes to rack up strikeouts. If he reaches six innings, eight or more punchouts are well within reach.

This seems obvious, backing two elite pitchers in Zack Wheeler and Paul Skenes.

Neither one of these pitchers allows consistent contact, allowing much traffic on the base paths. A mistake that leads to HR seems like the only way we get beaten on this leg. Let's hope that does not happen.

Outside of his blistering fastball, Paul Skenes leans heavily on his sweeper against right-handed hitters, often using it as his put-away pitch once he’s ahead in the count.

Trea Turner owns a 40.6% strikeout rate against sweepers, while Alec Bohm has struck out 28.6% of the time when facing the pitch. If Skenes is locating his sweeper down in the zone and avoiding the middle of the plate, he has a legitimate opportunity to rack up strikeouts against both hitters.

The recent head-to-head numbers support that outlook as well. In a combined 18 at-bats against Skenes, Turner and Bohm have managed just three hits while striking out four times.
