MLB Sleeper Picks Player Predictions: Wednesday (5/15)

The hot streak continues! We found another 3-0 sweep yesterday, bringing the hit rate to 65.3% through the first month and a half of the season. Regression is bound to come, but until it does, let’s keep firing away. Here are three of my favorite player props via Sleeper for this Wednesday, May 15,

MLB Sleeper Picks Player Predictions

Sleeper Record: 68-36

Ranger Suarez Less Than 5.5 Hits Allowed (1.65x)

Once a long reliever, Ranger Suarez has turned into an excellent starter. Through eight starts, he ranks in the top 96th-percentile in xERA, 98th in xFIP, 85th in K%, 93rd in BB%, 97th in H/9 and 83rd in CSW%. The Phillies left-hander has stayed under this mark in six of eight starts and draws the Mets who have had their fair share of struggles against lefties. They have the lowest batting average (.179) and second-worst wRC+ (61) against southpaws over the past 30 days. Suarez has also done a good job shutting them down in the past. The Mets roster owns a combined .190 batting average and .269 xwOBA across 89 plate appearances against him.

Taj Bradley More Than 5.5 Strikeouts (1.65x)

The young Rays right-handed looked fantastic in his 2024 debut. He fired six innings of one-run ball while allowing four hits, two walks, and struck out seven. He has a propensity for striking out plenty of batters and went over this mark in 13 of 21 starts this past year while ranking in the 81st-percentile in K%. Boston has been striking out at a fairly high clip over the past two weeks too. They have the sixth highest K% (24.4%) and are 22nd in wRC+ (82) against righties over the past two weeks.

Kyle Bradish Less Than 5.5 Strikeouts (1.67x)

He’s coming off an impressive nine-strikeout performance against the Nationals, but his history against the Blue Jays makes this a play to the under. Toronto’s roster has just 13 strikeouts across 108 plate appearances against Bradish. That equates to a paltry 12% K% and 14.1% whiff rate as well. The Blue Jays also have the t-8th lowest K% (20.6%) against right-handed pitching on the season.
