Sunday Night Baseball Best MLB Picks: Tigers vs. Rangers

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Detroit Tigers at Texas Rangers

The American League All-Star starter, Tarik Skubal, will make his second-half debut tonight. The left-hander has held his last 99 batters to a .138 ISO and wOBA of .240. He’s also struck out 38.4% of batters in the previous 30 days, while walking only 4%.

Skubal has also earned nearly 18% of swinging strikes and has added 33.2% of whiffs in the last month. Beyond that, he’s added nearly 43% of ground balls and has allowed just 23.2% of fly balls.

Tonight, on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball, he’ll take on a Rangers’ lineup that has hit a .272 wOBA against lefties over the last 30 days.

Skubal will take on fellow lefty Jacob Latz of the Rangers. Latz has held his last 69 batters to a .032 ISO and wOBA of .223. He’s also struck out 26.1% of batters and has produced more than 45% of ground balls over the last 30 days.

Like Skubal, Latz will battle a lineup that has a wOBA below .300 against lefties over the last month.

Neither offense has shown much against lefties over the last 30 days. That said, Latz will likely have more walks, especially against a Tigers team that has walked nearly 13% of the time against lefties over the last month. But dating back to before the All-Star Break, the Tigers’ offense has really slumped.

Therefore, we’ll take a chance with the Under.

Pick: Under 7.0 Runs (-110)
