MLB To Hit a Home Run Player Prop Picks & Predictions: Friday (4/7)

The weekend is here, which means it’s time to kick back and watch some baseball! 28 of the league’s 30 teams are in action today, including a pair of matinee games with the Marlins taking on the Mets and the Cubs hosting the Rangers.

With 14 games on the docket, there’s no shortage of ways to bet on today’s schedule. But, I’ve narrowed in on these three home run player props across the league!

Texas Rangers at Chicago Cubs

The Texas Rangers head to Chicago, where they’ll take on the Cubs in a three-game series. This interleague showdown offers a pitching matchup between Nathan Eovaldi for Texas and Marcus Stroman for Chicago. First pitch is scheduled for 2:20 p.m. ET from Wrigley Field in Chicago, IL.

Eovaldi earned a win in his season debut, but he wasn’t too sharp over 5.0 innings. He allowed three earned runs to the Phillies, giving up six hits and two walks in the 16-3 victory.

One of the newest additions to the Cubs is Eric Hosmer, who joins the fourth team of his career. He’s off to a respectable start, posting a slash line of .294/.294/.412 with four RBI. He’s yet to hit a home run through four games, but I think today will be the day. The left-handed slugger is 4-for-7 (.571) against Eovaldi with a home run and a double. Let’s take a shot with the +950 payout!

Pick: Eric Hosmer (+950)

San Diego Padres at Atlanta Braves

The Braves picked up a 7-6 victory in the series opener last night against the Padres, improving to 6-1 in the process. Atlanta will turn to Jared Shuster tonight, while San Diego counters with Nick Martinez. This National League showdown is set for 7:20 p.m. ET from Truist Park in Atlanta, GA.

Matt Olson is off to a great start this season, hitting .333 with three long balls and nine RBI. He’s homered once in his last two games, going 5-for-9 (.556) and driving in five RBI.

He’ll have a favorable matchup tonight against Martinez, who’s coming off of a 7.0-inning outing against the Rockies last Friday. The right-hander allowed four earned runs on six hits, one of them being a homer. Olson has seen him well in his career, going 4-for-9 (.444), with two of those hits being big flies. Let’s ride with Olson to hit his fourth bomb of the year.

Pick: Matt Olson (+320)

Washinton Nationals at Colorado Rockies

The Rockies earned a 1-0 win at home over the Nationals yesterday, marking just the 11th time in over 2,200 contests that a game has ended 1-0 at Coors Field. Something tells me that we’ll see much more offense this evening with a pitching matchup between MacKenzie Gore and Jose Urena. This National League clash is scheduled for 8:40 p.m. ET from Denver, CO.

Gore was fantastic in his season debut against the Braves, limiting them to just one earned run over 5.1 innings. The left-hander gave up three hits and four walks. He’s the only pitcher to collect a win in Washington’s 1-6 start to this season.

It’s a small sample size, but Gore has struggled against Colorado in his young career. The Rockies are 9-for-19 (.474) against him, with two doubles, a triple, and a pair of home runs. Both of those long balls belong to C.J. Cron, who is 3-for-5 (.600) against the southpaw. Cron already has three homers this season, along with a .977 OPS, so let’s take a shot with the first baseman to go yard tonight.

Pick: C.J. Cron (+425)
