Rhys Hoskins o1.5 TB (+135)
Hoskins is the Phillies’ best hitter against left-handers with a wRC+ of 162. His ISO is a robust .272 against southpaws, and the Cardinals are sending Jose Quintana to the mound. This is a great spot for Hoskins.
Shane McClanahan o4.5 K (-130)
Shane has been one of the best pitchers in baseball and, despite a poor finish to his season, still possesses an elite strikeout upside. Cleveland does not swing and miss much overall, but their K-rate is a bit worse against lefties than overall.
Matt Chapman o0.5 HR (+600)
While it has not been explicitly proven, in baseball, much like life, opposites attract. Ground ball hitters do better against fly ball pitchers and vice versa. Chapman has one of the highest fly ball rates on the Blue Jays, and he faces a groundball specialist in Luis Castillo. This all aligns to hopefully lead to success for Chapman.
Max Scherzer 01.5 BBs (+100)
This does not feel like a great bet on paper, as Scherzer has only walked more than one hitter in two of his last ten starts, but this is all about the matchup. The Padres have the fourth-highest walk rate in the game at a clip of just under 10%. Their hitters have a very patient approach that might allow them to wait out Scherzer and walk more hitters than usual.
