Monday Night Football Odds, Picks & Predictions: Commanders vs. Eagles (Week 10)

The Commanders (4-5) will play the undefeated Eagles (8-0) in Philadelphia on Monday Night Football this week. The Eagles will be playing in primetime for the second week in a row.

While the Eagles are in control of the NFC East, both the Cowboys and Giants sit hot on their tails at 6-2. The Commanders need wins fast but are far from out of things. Let’s take a closer look at how things might shake out Monday night in this divisional matchup.

Details

  • Opening Line: Eagles -10.5 | O/U 44.5
  • Current Line: Eagles -10.5 | O/U 43.5
  • Last meeting: September 25, 2022 – Eagles 24, Commanders 8

Overview

Following a trade for Carson Wentz in the summer, the Commanders have recently re-discovered a quarterback they had all along in Taylor Heinicke. Even though they fell to the Vikings 20-17 on Sunday, Heinicke has performed admirably in Wentz’s place and appears to have secured the job indefinitely moving forward.

As the Commanders attempt to climb out of the NFC East cellar, the addition of Brian Robinson Jr. to the backfield with Antonio Gibson has also been beneficial. The former returned from a gunshot injury suffered just a few months ago.

As the only unbeaten squad left in the league, the Eagles continue to dominate week after week. They pulled away for a comfortable 29-17 victory against the Texans in Week 9 after battling through the first half.

In that one, the Eagles started slower than usual likely due to the short week. They will be rested and ready for their divisional showdown on Monday Night Football this week, however, as they will have 10 days off to prepare for the game.

Bottom Line

The Eagles haven’t just been smoke and mirrors to this point. They are getting it done in all phases of the game. Currently, they are top-five in the league in points scored, points allowed, total yards accrued, total yards allowed, and +/- turnovers. This team is legit in every sense of the word.

Even still, this is a divisional matchup in the NFL. The Commanders have really turned a corner over the past month. Having now covered four straight games, they have looked like a new team with Heineike at quarterback. I think we see another competitive showing from them this week in Philadelphia.
