Monday Night Football Player Props, Picks & Predictions: Commanders vs. Eagles (2022)

The Eagles look to remain undefeated in on the season as they welcome the NFC East rival Commanders into Philadelphia on Monday night. But in a game where the Eagles are heavily favored, we’re targeting the UNDER on one of those pass-catchers who we’re not expecting to get especially involved in the action.

Monday Night Football Player Props, Picks & Predictions (Commanders vs. Eagles)

Jalen Hurts OVER 242.5 Passing Yards (-110 via FanDuel Sportsbook)

Jalen Hurts has truly come into his own as a passer this season amid the addition of AJ Brown to the Philadelphia offense. Hurts has cleared this passing line in five of eight games this season while coming just short by reaching 239 yards in one other outing.

Washington’s passing defense ranks 18th in the NFL in yards allowed per game. The Commanders have allowed an opposing passer to eclipse this passing total in only one of their past six games, but the matchup with Hurts precisely *seven* games ago was not a friendly one for the Commanders.

Hurts passed for a whopping 340 yards and three touchdowns in the September meeting between these two teams in Washington. Though the Commanders have trended more capably on defense in the weeks since that battle, I like the Eagles’ gunslinger to find Brown and Goedert with frequency on Monday night.

DeVonta Smith UNDER 4.5 Receptions (-135 via DraftKings Sportsbook)

DeVonta Smith looked like a star in the making during his rookie season in Philadelphia, and though he’s had his moments this season, Brown’s arrival has limited the week-to-week volume to which Smith is allotted in this offense.

The second-year man out of Alabama was held without a catch in the first game of the season, which would have been unfathomable once Smith hit his stride a year ago. He’s still cleared this DraftKings line of 4.5 receptions in five of eight games, but it’s telling that the odds (+105 on OVER, -135 on UNDER) are where they are for this Monday night tilt.

Smith could see limited opportunities Monday in a game that may not see Hurts drop back to pass all too often. Washington limits its opponents to 60.6 plays per game (7th in the NFL). In a game that the Eagles are expected to win handily, it doesn’t seem as though Hurts will need to look in the direction of his ancillary passing options behind AJ Brown and Dallas Goedert with much frequency.

Antonio Gibson OVER 3.5 Receptions (+102 via DraftKings Sportsbook)

With the Commanders featured as 11-point underdogs on Monday night, Antonio Gibson should be a featured garbage-time commodity.

JD McKissic is out of the action again this week as he deals with a neck injury. Brian Robinson is not an active part of the passing offense at the running back position. That leaves Gibson among the backfield cavalry to soak up targets from Tyler Heinicke as the Commanders presumably play from behind during the second half.

Gibson has cleared this reception total twice this season, but he’s accrued exactly three catches another four times. Monday’s contest could play out as one of the more favorable game scripts for Gibson to rack up receptions all year. FanDuel offers the line on Gibson OVER 3.5 Receptions at +100, so DraftKings is slightly more favorable.
