Today’s Best Bets

College Basketball Best Bets

Kansas vs. TCU

In the spirit of complete honesty, I don’t think I’ve had a harder game to read than this one all season.

It is tough to simply trust the numbers here as TCU played six games without Mike Miles. They lost five of them. That’s one fewer than when they played with him for the entire season before he went down. TCU showed their ability to handle Kansas before in Allen Fieldhouse and now they’re at home.

On the other hand, Kansas’ interior defense should be suffocating and I can’t imagine TCU shooting above 50% from beyond the arc. The Jayhawks are on a roll and they play well on the road.

In the end, I’m taking the under, there was a lot of scoring in the last game and I am expecting some expected regression with these two top-25 ranked defenses.

Play: Under 149.5 (-110 at DraftKings)

NHL Best Bets

Ottawa Senators (+270) vs. Boston Bruins(-345) | O/U 6.5 (-102/-124)

Besides the loss to Chicago, Ottawa has been playing well as of late. They’ve picked up at least one point in eight of their last nine and still breathe some life in a playoff opportunity.

The top line of Brady Tkachuk, Tim Stutzle, and Claude Giroux has been on a fantastic run with a combined 20 goals in ten games.

This will be their biggest test going against Boston. After a rough patch going into the All-Star Break, the Bruins are proving again why they’re the best team in the league.

The depth of the forward unit makes them dangerous — Pavel Zacha on the second line has four goals in his last five games, and all the way to the bottom is Trent Frederic, averaging 11.75 minutes on ice and has three goals in five games.

The Senators having two call-ups between the pipes is what will hurt them. They’ve played three games in the last four days, and that exhaustion will affect them in a challenging road game.

Pick: Bruins -1.5 (-134)

NFL Best Bets

2023 NFL MVP

Lawrence took great strides during his sophomore season, leading Jacksonville to an AFC South title and a trip to the divisional round of the playoffs. The former No. 1 pick started to show off the skills that made him a prodigious draft prospect, throwing for 4,113 yards, 25 touchdowns and only eight picks.

After needing a reset from a catastrophic rookie year under Urban Meyer, year two under Doug Pederson could be Lawrence’s chance to truly break out.

MLB Best Bets

NL East Division Winner

The Mets have an experienced roster and may be ready to take the division for the first time since 2015. While the Braves have the talent to win another title, this division will be decided by who wins the Trade Deadline. Atlanta currently has the worst-ranked farm system in baseball, and the Mets have the sport’s richest and most aggressive owner in Steve Cohen. Philadelphia is an interesting choice at +370, assuming they survive until Harper returns.

Pick: New York Mets (+130)
