NBA Same Game Parlay

Miami Heat vs. Philadelphia 76ers

Joel Embiid has led the 76ers in points and rebounds. But I’m looking at his assist prop. Embiid has hit at least four assists in his last four games and is taking on a Miami defense that has been average throughout the year. Embiid has seen at least 39 minutes in three of his last four games and will get plenty of opportunities to rack up the assists.

Meanwhile, James Harden leads the 76ers in assists, but I’m looking at his rebounding total. Harden has averaged 6.2 rebounds per game this season and has hit six rebounds in 63% of games. He’s also coming off a six-rebound performance in Philadelphia’s last game against the Celtics.

Meanwhile, Bam Adebayo’s been a solid amount of assists himself recently. Adebayo averages 3.3 assists per game and has hit three or more assists in seven of his last ten games and 64% of the season’s games. Look for him to earn at least three more tonight for the Heat.

First Basket Scorer

Terry Rozier (+650)

As the home favorite against one of the worst offenses in the league, I have to go with a Charlotte player to score the first bucket tonight. Now, Charlotte’s offense isn’t great either, but I at least trust their defense a bit more than Detroit’s 29th-ranked defense.

While Isaiah Stewart is questionable tonight with right hip soreness, I’m writing this expecting him to take the tip for Detroit. As the tip-off jumper, Stewart has failed to win tip-off’s more than 42 percent of the time, with Detroit scoring just 37 percent of the time. On the other side, Mark Williams has won tips at a solid 60 percent of the time, with Charlotte converting half the time. It should be the Hornets’ opportunity to score first.

As a matter of who, Charlotte’s offense splits essentially evenly on who scores the first bucket. Detroit’s defense, however, allows nearly 30 percent of the opponent’s first baskets to come from the shooting guard position. While I am tempted to take LaMelo Ball (+490), I am taking the value in Rozier. I’ll put one unit on this bet.

NBA Prop Bets

Robert Williams UNDER 9.5 Points (-115)

February has been good for the Celtics, and are 7-2 this month. They played some exciting matchups recently, with overtime games against the Pacers and Bucks, along with a last-second basket by Jason Tatum to beat the 76ers.

Tonight they face the Knicks, who are playing well, winning seven of their last eight. New York’s defense has been excellent close to the rim all season, and Robert Williams will be in for a challenge. They have the four-best opponent shooting percentage within five feet and are allowing the fewest points to centers. Grab the under with Williams getting a total above his season average.

NBA Game Picks

Boston Celtics vs. New York Knicks

We’re staying in the Eastern Conference for spot #3 tonight, as the red-hot Celtics make the short trip to take on the Knicks. Winners of eight of their last 10, the Celtics have stormed up the standings, and currently sit atop the East, leading the Bucks by a half-game.

For the Knicks, also winners of eight of their last 10, they have played their way out of the play-in tournament spots, and are now tied with the Nets for the 5th seed in the East.

While both teams will be in the mix come May, I like for the more talented Celtics to get it done here.

Bet: Celtics -2 (-110)

College Basketball Best Bets

Baylor vs. Oklahoma State

When comparing these two teams – Baylor is simply better. They have the second-best adjusted offense, they are 11-3 in their last 14 games with one of the best backcourts in the country. Oklahoma State is a bubble team that has lost each of its last four games and is trending down.

But it’s not that easy. Baylor is not the same team on the road as they are at home. Three of their last four road games have resulted in losses with two of them coming by double-digits, ranking 359th in the nation away from home. Oklahoma State on the other hand ranks 35th in playing at home and is a much more consistent program.

When I see those numbers, it’s hard to fade home-court advantage. The Pokes are due for some positive regression and their 13th-ranked KenPom defense is up for the challenge. They excel offensively down low as well and can run in transition with Baylor. Don’t be surprised to see an upset tonight in Stillwater.

Play: Baylor +1.5 (DraftKings)

NHL Game Picks

Boston Bruins (-146vs. Edmonton Oilers (-125) | O/U 6.5 (-138/+112)

That rough patch near the All-Star break is well behind the Bruins. They’ve dominantly won six straight with a +15 scoring differential. This is one of the best scoring defenses in the league, and goalie Linus Ullmark has been stellar in the crease and, I guess, now on offense.

David Pastrnak will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year, and every game helps him to a big payday. He’s currently second in goals and fourth in points and would have been a Hart Trophy candidate in most years.

That award will go to his opponent Connor McDavid. He leads the league in goals and assists, totaling 25 more points than the next man, his teammate Leon Draisaital.

This will be a fun matchup between two offenses with deep lines of playmakers. Edmonton has scored more this season, but Boston has the better defense. This should be a back-and-forth matchup, with each team trading off goals.

Pick: Over 6.5 (-138)
