NASCAR at Talladega Superspeedway: YellaWood 500 Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions (2022)
Erik Jones won at Darlington, Bubba Wallace triumphed at Kansas, and Chris Buescher won at Bristol so far in what has been a chaotic NASCAR postseason. So chaotic, that every race has been won by a non-playoff driver who also earned their first win of the season. Because he has previously won this season, Tyler Reddick’s victory last weekend in Texas was unusual, but that doesn’t mean the race was normal in any way.
The Texas Motor Speedway’s track experienced 16 caution flags, a red flag, and seven drivers were disqualified as a result (in part) of the intense sun hammering down on it. Last weekend’s racing lasted for about six hours in total, leaving what might happen this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway anyone’s guess.

Top 5: Michael McDowell | +500 at DraftKings Sportsbook
With 11 top-10 finishes, the most recent coming in the first round of the playoffs at Darlington, McDowell is having the strongest season of his career. Furthermore, as his victory in the 2021 Daytona 500 will show, he was a significant threat to win on speedways even before the introduction of the next-gen vehicle changes.
Though this is a flyer for sure, McDowell could definitely have an impact on Sunday after finishing ninth or better in two of his last three Talladega races.
Top 3: Denny Hamlin | +400 at DraftKings Sportsbook
One of the best speedway racers of his day, Hamlin excels at avoiding pack congestion while traveling at high speeds. Despite the fact that he hasn’t won since the spring, he has recently been running quite well.
At Talladega, he has started from the front row in four of his previous five starts and has been in the mix now for six straight fights. Having won twice here before, I like Hamlin’s chances of finishing near the top comes Sunday afternoon at Talladega.
