NASCAR Betting Futures Bets: Best Cup Series Championship Odds, Predictions & Picks After 16 Races (2022)

The 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season is now 16 races old. It has already been a season to remember would be an understatement. The new Next Gen Car has brought a heightened degree of parity to the sport unlike anything ever seen before. Four drivers scored their first career Cup Series wins this season. Those wins have naturally come at the expense of the sport’s top guns, some of whom have fallen well short of preseason NASCAR betting futures expectations.

With 16 races in the books, there are now just 10 remaining before the NASCAR playoffs start. Having reached the first and only bye week for the Cup Series this season, what better time to hunt for value amongst the updated 2022 NASCAR betting futures odds? In a season that has been full of surprises, the latest NASCAR championship futures odds have several major discrepancies as opposed to their preseason counterparts.

The following article looks at the updated NASCAR futures odds to win the 2022 Cup Series Championship. It discusses a few value bets to consider, with ten races remaining until the playoffs.

Best NASCAR Championship Futures Bets

The following sections discuss three NASCAR betting Cup Series championship futures bets worthy of consideration. The listed odds for each driver reflect the best available in the market at the time of writing.

Ryan Blaney (+1000)

Best odds at Caesars Sportsbook

The 2022 NASCAR All-Star Race marks the only outright win for Ryan Blaney so far this season. While the $1 million check was certainly nice, that victory does not count regarding the points standings and playoff picture. Despite being “winless” on the year, Blaney is still the 8-seed in the updated playoff picture, thanks to series-leading four-stage wins and several strong runs. Remember that all of those stage wins also earned him a playoff point.

For as well as the No. 12 team has been running this season, one has to imagine that Blaney will reach victory lane prior to the start of the playoffs. Even if a regular-season win fails to materialize, it would likely take 16 other drivers winning a race to bump him from the playoff field. He is fourth in the overall points standings and has momentum heading into the bye after finishing sixth at Sonoma. Blaney’s four stage wins through the first 16 races are more than any other driver has to date and were all worth a playoff point. A race win will surely follow at some point, and the team simply has to close the deal in the latter portions of a race.

Having been arguably the most consistent of the Fords this season, one has to give Blaney a real shot at reaching the Championship 4. Based on the manufacturer splits at Phoenix and similar tracks, Ford has clearly prioritized a car setup that will be strong in the final race of the year. Given that Blaney is priced as low as +850 elsewhere among the current NASCAR betting futures odds, the 10-1 odds at Caesars offer solid market value.

Christopher Bell (+3000)

Best odds at DraftKings Sportsbook

If the NASCAR Playoffs started today, Christopher Bell would be in on standings points as the 15-seed. Winless on the year, Bell is currently 28 points ahead of Kevin Harvick, the first driver below the cutline after the race at Sonoma. While the absence of a win is hurting him in the playoff race, the fact that Bell is tenth in total points is a solid indicator of how well he has been running overall this season.

Before a disappointing effort at Sonoma, Bell and the No. 20 car was finishing inside the top-10 on a near-weekly basis. Since the dirt race at Bristol, Bell has placed top-10 in six of eight races. Furthermore, three of those finishes were also top-5 showings. His nine top-10s on the season are tied for the fourth-most in the Cup Series. He is also one of only four drivers with four or more top-5 finishes on the season.

In addition to scoring a race win to secure his spot in the playoffs, stage wins to gain valuable playoff points will also be a priority for Bell and the No. 20 team in the next ten races. That said, a 30-1 price offers plenty of value relative to how Bell has been running, especially lately. Compared to his three veteran Joe Gibbs Racing teammates, one could argue that Bell has been the fastest and most consistent weekly. Despite this, his NASCAR betting futures odds are much longer than all of his teammates.

Daniel Suarez (+3300)

Best odds at BetMGM Sportsbook

It’s only fitting to feature the man of the hour among our NASCAR betting futures picks. Mexican native Daniel Suarez captured his first career Cup Series win at Sonoma this past weekend. A victim of bad luck on numerous occasions this season, it was simply a matter of the No. 99 team putting a full race together and catching a few breaks. From a speed and organization standpoint, the win should not come as a surprise to anyone.

Suarez is teammates with Ross Chastain at Trackhouse Racing. Despite this being only its second year in operation, Trackhouse has asserted itself as a significant player at the table in the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series Championship. Combined, Suarez and Chastain have three wins, ten top-5 finishes, 15 top-10s, and five stage wins. Indeed, if the first 16 races have taught us anything, it’s that Trackhouse racing has equipment capable of contending weekly.

Before his Sonoma win, Suarez would have needed to make up a lot of ground in the points standings just to qualify for the playoffs. With a win now in hand, the No. 99 team can focus on stockpiling as many playoff points as possible for the remainder of the regular season. One can only wonder where Suarez’s NASCAR betting futures odds would be had he avoided some of the bad luck that has plagued him this season. As it is, an optimal 33-1 price offers significant value over other listings as low as +2500 in the market.
