NBA Best Bets Odds, Picks & Predictions: Sunday (3/12)

We’re in the final month of the regular season, and there are still wide-open races for the playoffs. With a couple of very important games today, we’ll highlight players that may or may not make an impact.

Also, take a look at our other best bets for Sunday:

Sunday’s Best NBA Bets

Brooklyn Nets vs. Denver Nuggets (-8.5)

The Nets went from championship contender to rebuild in a matter of days during the deadline. Brooklyn’s new squad did not get off to a good start by losing six of eight after the Durant trade, but now they come in winning four of five. Mikal Bridges was a significant return for the Nets in that trade and has led the team in points in five of the last seven games.

Nikola Jokic and triple-doubles go together like peanut butter and jelly. A rarely did occur the other night — the Nuggets were 25-0 this year when Jokic had a triple-double but lost for the first time on Friday in San Antonio.

They return home where they’ve dominated all season, going 30-5. You look at Brooklyn, and this new lineup isn’t ready to compete for a title, but they’re playing much better, winning four of their last five and covering all five.

I like the Nuggets to win but the Nets to cover.

Pick: Nets +8.5 (-110)

Cleveland Cavaliers (-7.5) vs. Charlotte Hornets

The Cavaliers were stellar at the start of February by winning seven straight, but we’ve seen them dip by going 4-5 in their last nine games. The surge of teams like Milwaukee and Philadelphia has seen Cleveland move to the fourth seed.

Donovan Mitchell has carried the offense on his back, leading the team in scoring in eight of their last 12 and scoring 29 or more in each.

The Hornets will not see the playoffs this season, but they want to play spoiler as the regular wraps up. They are coming into tonight, winning seven of their last 11, with victories against Minnesota, New York, Miami, and Atlanta.

They lost leading scorer LaMelo Ball a couple of weeks back, but this has allowed Kelly Oubre Jr. to step up, averaging 25 points per gammon his last six.

Charlotte is on the second leg of a back-to-back and is just 5-10-1 with a rest disadvantage. I’ll like Cleveland getting a big win against an inferior opponent.

Pick: Cavaliers -7.5 (-110)

Oklahoma City Thunder (-3) vs. San Antonio Spurs

The Thunder have been much better than expected this season. The team was left out to pasture, especially with second-overall pick Chet Holmgren going down before the season, but they currently sit just a game out of the play-in tournament.

What happened to San Antonio was expected. They have been officially eliminated from playoff contention and are in a prime position to get the top pick.

The Thunder have the most profitable team this year with the best record against the spread. That includes both matchups against the Spurs this season.

Pick: Thunder -3 (-110)
