NBA Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions: Friday (4/7)

Seemingly just as soon as it started, we are now down to the final weekday of the 2022-23 NBA regular season as teams still jockey for positioning in the postseason. We did well Wednesday, going 1-0-1 grinding out a push in the Pacers game and slam dunking the Nets game later in the night.

Let’s look at the three spots I’m on to wrap up what has been a terrific season.

Houston Rockets at Charlotte Hornets

Two teams long-eliminated from the postseason will square off Friday night in Charlotte, as both already have their island vacations and golf trips planned for next week. For the Hornets, they limp into this one, largely without the entire team they started the season with, including injuries to Gordon Hayward, PJ Washington, Terry Rozier, and LaMelo Ball.

As for the Rockets, really only without Jae’Sean Tate, they have shown some will down the stretch here, having won two of their past three and covered three of their past four. Hitting the road for this one, look for a Houston roster largely auditioning for next year to have their way with a depleted Hornets lineup.

Bet: Rockets -1.5 (-110)

Orlando Magic at Brooklyn Nets

Eliminated from postseason contention earlier in the week, the Magic will still have to suit up for this one and one more as they head to Brooklyn to take on a Nets team still in need of a win. If they were to get a victory, the Nets will stamp their ticket for the 6th seed, avoiding the Play-In Tournament with the added luxury of rest before taking on the 76ers next week.

Also, if they can get this win, they’ll avoid having to play their starters against that 76ers team on Sunday; added motivation, no doubt. Largely as healthy as they’ve been all season, I like for a concerted effort from the Nets here as they roll.

Bet: Nets -7 (-110)

Chicago Bulls at Dallas Mavericks

While they need a win and some help, the door has not completely shut on this Mavericks team in terms of making the postseason. For the Bulls, they come into this one having lost two straight, and while in the final Play-In spot, can’t move up regardless of what happens here.

Look for a motivated Mavs side to come out firing.

Bet: 1H Mavericks -4 (-110)
