NBA Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions: Monday (2/27)

We went 3-0 ATS on Friday, coming back from the All-Star break with a bang as we look to close out the season on a strong note. Following a busy weekend, the NBA returns today with a shallow four-game slate, as we dig deep to find some value in our typical three-game offering.

  • YTD Record: 85-65-5 ATS

Monday’s Best NBA Bets

Detroit Pistons vs. Charlotte Hornets

Two teams at the bottom of the Eastern Conference will square off tonight in Charlotte, as the 15-win Pistons will take on the 19-win Hornets. While expectations were high at the start of the season for this talented Hornets team, injuries have crushed them, as this season has turned into one long losing streak after another.

For the Pistons, the rebuilding year is right on track, as they’ve also suffered one long injury streak after another. Even still, they have a knack for covering on the road, where they are 15-14-2 ATS. Despite their recent four-game win streak, the Hornets shouldn’t be laying points to anyone, as their season has long been over.

Bet: Pistons +6.5 (-110)

Miami Heat vs. Philadelphia 76ers

In the marquee game of the night, the Heat will head north to take on the 76ers, as both teams continue jockeying for playoff position. For the visiting Heat, a decent start to the year has been overshadowed by way of four straight losses, as they look to stop their skid tonight in their final game of a four-game road trip.

A five-game winning streak was halted on Saturday for the 76ers, falling 110-107 at home to the Boston Celtics. A large component of their recent run has been their defensive effort, as they now rank third in the league in points allowed per game at just 110.4.

Allowing just 108.6 points in their own right, playing defense is one thing the Heat are doing well. I’m taking the under in this spot.

Bet: Under 217 (-110)

Boston Celtics vs. New York Knicks

We’re staying in the Eastern Conference for spot #3 tonight, as the red-hot Celtics make the short trip to take on the Knicks. Winners of eight of their last 10, the Celtics have stormed up the standings, and currently sit atop the East, leading the Bucks by a half-game.

For the Knicks, also winners of eight of their last 10, they have played their way out of the play-in tournament spots, and are now tied with the Nets for the 5th seed in the East.

While both teams will be in the mix come May, I like for the more talented Celtics to get it done here.

Bet: Celtics -2 (-110)
