Top 3 NBA Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions: Monday (1/9)

Wizards -1 (-110) vs. Pelicans

Things were looking up for the Wizards, picking up five straight wins beginning on December 23rd, including a 118-95 road win over the Bucks on New Year’s Day. The two games since, with Bradley Beal again sidelined, have not been as pleasant, dropping both while allowing 123+ points in both.

For the Pelicans, the injury bug is also already threatening to derail their season. While Larry Nance Jr. is probable with a shoulder injury, the Pelicans aren’t dealing well with life without Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram. Having lost four of their past five, I like another defeat tonight in our nation’s capital.

Bulls +8.5 (-110) vs. Celtics

Following a lackluster start to the season, the Bulls are clawing their way back to .500, and their recent play has left fans with plenty to be optimistic about. Coming into tonight, the Bulls have won five of their past seven, covering six, with their two losses coming by a combined two points.

The Celtics, as expected, have rebounded just fine following the turbulence that started the season, now winning six of their past eight. However, they aren’t covering, as they have failed to cover the spread in four of their past five games.

I like for the Bulls to keep this one close tonight in Boston.

Nuggets -9 (-110) vs. Lakers

Don’t look now, but here come the Lake Show.

As of tonight, the Lakers have won five straight games and six of their past seven, all of which they’ve won as underdogs. As you’d expect, LeBron James has led the way, as this team is starting to rally behind him to make a push toward the postseason following a lost 2022 campaign.

The problem tonight, however, as they head north to the altitude of Denver for their third game in four nights, taking on a much healthier Nuggets team on two full days of rest. Having won (and covered) four of five in their own right, look for the Lakers to fold late tonight as the Nugs cover with ease.
