Toronto Raptors (+176) at San Antonio Spurs (-210) | O/U 232.5 (-108/-112)
The Raptors (1-2) and the Spurs (3-0) meet on Monday night at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio at 8 p.m. ET.
Toronto suffered a 139-129 loss in Dallas on Sunday as a 1-point favorite while the Over (231.5) cashed. It wasn’t a bad offensive night, as the Raptors shot 49.0% (49-of-100) from the field, and 39.4% (13-of-33) from behind the 3-point line, and they struggled from the free-throw line at 75.0% (18-of-24). The Raps were minus-6 in the rebounding category, but they were plus-6 in turnover ratio, they just couldn’t play any defense, especially inside. Anthony Davis had his way, going 11-of-14 from the field, and that doesn’t bode well with Victor Wembanyama on the horizon.
On the flip side, while the Mavericks have failed to cover the past two games, the Spurs have won all three games to date, including a 125-92 win in Dallas, if we’re looking at common opponents. The Spurs are 3-0 SU and 2-0-1 against the spread (ATS), while averaging 121.0 points per game (PPG) on offense.
San Antonio has won each of the past three meetings, going 3-0 ATS, while the Over cashed in last season’s meeting in San Antonio. The Spurs won 125-118 as a similar 4.5-point favorite last season on April 13.
We should get a higher-scoring game on Monday night, and look for the Spurs to cash as the favorite. In fact, as a standalone play, go rather aggressively laying the points with the Spurs.
Picks: Spurs -5.5 (-112) & Over 232.5 Points (-108)
Phoenix Suns (-136) at Utah Jazz (-102) | O/U 233.5 (-106/-114)
The Suns (1-2) travel to Delta Center in Salt Lake City on Monday night to take battle the Jazz (1-1). Phoenix has won 10 in row in this series, going 4-1 ATS in the past five meetings. The Over has cashed at a 7-1 clip in the past eight in the series since Oct. 28, 2023.
The Suns are coming off a 133-111 loss in Denver, and that comes on the heels of a 129-102 loss to the LA Clippers, both as double-digit underdogs. The Over has cashed in all three games to date. Phoenix has really struggled defensively against good teams, but we’ve yet to see it face a poor team.
The Jazz blasted the Clippers 129-108 in the opener as a 9.5-point underdog at home last Wednesday, while falling 105-104 in Sacramento, although it covered as a 6-point underdog while the Under (234.5) cashed.
If you’re looking at common opponents, Phoenix beat the Kings, and Utah lost in Sacramento. However, let’s throw all of that out, and all of the recent games out the window, too. Phoenix has won 10 in a row in this series, and there is no reason to get away from it now, especially laying less than a bucket. And, let’s go Over on the total, as that’s the best play on the board.
And, if you’re looking for a strong parlay, take the Spurs laying the points, and the Over in this game, for an even better value.
Picks: Suns -1 (-108) & Over 233.5 Points (-106)
