Indiana Pacers (+420) at New York Knicks (-550) | O/U 223.5 (-110/-110)
The Pacers (13-40) and the Knicks (35-19) meet at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday, with a tip-off time of 7:30 p.m. ET.
These teams met at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis back on December 18th in the first meeting of the season, with the Knicks eking out a 114-113 win, although the Pacers covered as 3.5-point underdogs as the over (226.5) cashed.
Indiana slinks into this matchup on a four-game losing skid, while failing to cover the past three outings. The under has cashed in the past two games, too, with the offense averaging just 101.5 points per game (PPG), while allowing 113.5 PPG. The Pacers have coughed up 118+ points in four of the past five outings.
New York was roughed up 118-80 at Detroit on Friday night, but it rebounded nicely with a 111-89 win on Super Bowl Sunday as a 3.5-point underdog, making things go from bad to worse for Boston sports fans. The Knicks are an impressive 9-1 straight up (SU) in the past 10 games, while also going 9-1 against the spread (ATS). The under has connected at an impressive clip of 10-2 in the previous 12 outings.
These teams have alternated wins and losses in each of the past six meetings, with Indiana going 3-1 ATS in the past four meetings, and 5-2 ATS across the past seven. The over is 3-1 in the past four meetings, too, while going 6-3 in the previous nine in the series.
Let’s take New York to get the job done, but we’ll go against the series trends, taking the under based on the play of the streaking Knicks lately.
Picks: Knicks -11.5 (-115) & Under 223.5 Points (-110)
Los Angeles Clippers (+235) at Houston Rockets (-290) | O/U 209.5 (-110/-110)
The Clippers (25-27) and the Rockets (32-19) meet at Toyota Center in Houston at 8:00 p.m. ET on NBA TV. The teams have met twice this season, with the home side defending its court in each meeting. The Clippers are also 2-0 ATS in the series this season, The over has cashed in both meetings and in five straight meetings since November 15th, 2024.
The Clippers have won the past two games, both on the road, including a 115-96 pounding of the Timberwolves in the Twin Cities on Sunday as a 9-point underdog, as the under (222.5) cashed. That halted a 0-3 ATS skid. Despite the under result, the over is 4-2 across the previous six contests.
For the Rockets, they took advantage of the Thunder missing defending MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, topping Oklahoma City at Paycom Center by a 112-106 score as 3.5-point underdogs as the over (213.5) cashed. That ended a 0-4 ATS slide, while the under is still 7-2 in the past nine games despite the over result on Saturday. The under is 17-4 in the past 21 games, and that’s definitely which way we’ll go for totals on the Rockets until that trend starts to fall apart.
The side isn’t so easy, but with the Rockets relatively healthy, and the Clippers having traded James Harden to the Cavaliers last week, the Clippers have a little less punch on offense. We’ll back the Rockets to grab the cover.
Picks: Rockets -7.5 (-108) & Under 209.5 Points (-110)
Dallas Mavericks (+230) at Phoenix Suns (-280) | O/U 228.5 (-110/-110)
The Mavericks (19-33) and the Suns (31-22) meet for the first time this season, and the first time in the Valley of the Sun. The Suns won 123-114 in the Metroplex on November 12th as a 2-point favorite, as the over (227.5) cashed. The Suns are 4-1 SU/ATS in the past five meetings in this series since October 26th, 2024, while the over has cashed in the past two meetings. However, the under is 6-2 in the past eight meetings in the series.
For the Mavericks, they’ve dropped seven in a row, while going 2-5 ATS in the span, as the over has hit in the past two outings. The Mavericks had won and covered four in a row from January 15-22 prior to the seven-game skid. The under is 5-1 in the past six games on the road, however.
The Suns lost 109-103 to the 76ers last time out on Saturday, and they’re 1-3 SU/ATS in the past four meetings, while the under has cashed in the past two games. They have 6-3 in the previous nine outings.
Phoenix has been having some trouble scoring lately - 103 or fewer points in three of the past four outings - while allowing 117 or fewer points in 12 of the past 13 contests.
Let’s back the Suns to get the job done at home, and we’ll go with the under based on the series trends, as well as those for Phoenix lately.
Picks: Suns -7.5 (-110) & Under 228.5 Points (-110)
