NBA Parlay Odds & Picks for Monday, March 21st (2022)

As the Heat and Suns continue to build their leads at the top of both conferences, there are currently 12 teams fighting to stay in the 7-10 seeds and the coveted play-in tournament. With less than two months of basketball to play, every game from here in becomes critical for a chance to survive.

Let’s look at a few teams in action tonight that are in such a position.

Leg #1. Hornets/Pelicans Over 233.5 | -110 at DK Sportsbook

We’ve already seen this one move off its opener of -5.5, and I think the line is moving in the right direction. After a red hot start to the season, the Hornets cooled off to start the calendar year, but things appear to be turning back in the right direction for the young team. The Hornets have won four straight (4-0 ATS), scoring an average of 130.25 points per game over that stretch.

For the visiting Pelicans, the #9/10 seed is where they currently sit, tied with the Lakers for the last spot in the Western Conference’s play-in tournament. Having met just 10 days ago, the Pelicans proved a terrible defensive matchup for this Hornets team, who dropped 142 points in the win (142-120). I expect a similar result tonight, in Charlotte, where the Hornets are a perfect 6-0 to the over in their last six as a favorite.

Leg #2. Trail Blazers +7.5 | -110 at DK Sportsbook

Having covered nine of their past 10, the Trail Blazers will now assume the unfamiliar role of favorite tonight at home against the reeling Trail Blazers. While the Pistons have already been eliminated from the playoffs, the Trail Blazers are still in striking distance of the 10th seed, currently sitting just 3.5 games back.

Having lost nine of their last 10, I don’t see that chance being very high, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t fighting. Entering tonight, this Portland team has covered three of their past five, and I like a similar effort tonight against an overvalued Pistons team in this spot.

Leg #3. Nets +1.5 | -110 at DK Sportsbook

Tonight’s national TV spot (NBA TV) pits two teams with more than playoff aspirations against one another as the Utah Jazz head across town to take on the Brooklyn Nets. Having knocked off the Knicks last night (108-93), the Jazz will be playing for the third time in four nights this evening, having beaten the Clippers at home on Friday night 121-92.

For the Nets, a home loss to the Mavericks on Wednesday and an inspiring home win vs. the Trail Blazers Friday has them looking to get back on track tonight, as Kevin Durant continues to get his wind back following his extended absence. In this one, I like for the fresh legs of the Nets to be the difference, as the Jazz struggle to stay competitive late.
