Saturday’s Best NBA Picks & Predictions
(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)
Oklahoma City Thunder at Houston Rockets
The Thunder (4-1) are coming off a 120-96 blowout loss against the Mavericks. That was an uncharacteristically poor defensive game for the NBA’s best team, as the Mavericks shot 47% from the field. As the favorite to win the NBA Championship, I expect Oklahoma City to get back on track tonight.
The Rockets (5-1) are also coming off a 116-111 loss to the Mavericks. Cooper Flagg went off for 33 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Houston slowed Dallas’ offense, as they shot 51% from the field and 36% from beyond the arc.
One key factor working in the Thunder’s favor is rest. Oklahoma City hasn’t played since October 28th. Meanwhile, the Rockets are on the second leg of a back-to-back. That’s the type of rest advantage you want to target. On top of that, Alperen Sengun, who missed Friday’s game with a back injury, is questionable to play tonight.
With these factors in mind, you have to like getting the Thunder as underdogs in this spot. I’ll take Thunder +2.5.
Pick: Thunder +2.5 (-115)
Cleveland Cavaliers at Milwaukee Bucks
The Cavaliers (3-2) are coming off a hard-fought 114-111 loss against the Hawks. They were dominated inside, with Onyeka Okongwu going off for 29 points and 12 rebounds.
The Bucks (1-4) got blown out 132-100 at home by the Rockets in their last game. Houston did whatever they wanted on offense, shooting 54% from the field and 44% from beyond the arc.
What I like about taking the Bucks against the spread (ATS) is that the Cavaliers are playing their fifth game in eight nights and third game in four nights. Meanwhile, the Bucks are on two full days of rest.
Milwaukee knocked off the Pacers on October 26th, so they can certainly pull off an upset at home. We’re getting them as home underdogs at +8.5 here, making them worth a look.
Pick: Bucks +8.5 (-110)
