NBA Player Prop Bet Odds, Picks & Predictions: Friday (1/6)

LaMelo Ball OVER 23.5 Points (+100 via DraftKings)

With Charlotte taking on Milwaukee, Ball will have to go off if they expect to keep up with Giannis and Co.

Jrue Holiday and Giannis Antetokounmpo are both probable for tonight but if neither of them plays, it obviously helps Ball’s ability to show out if he doesn’t have Holiday guarding him. Ball’s been averaging 24 points per game over the last two weeks and he’s only been improving since returning from injury.

I am one who tries to exclusively follow the numbers when making bets. But Ball sometimes goes beyond the numbers, and you just gotta trust your gut. I have to imagine LaMelo going off tonight in a high-profile matchup.

Kyle Lowry OVER 3.5 Rebounds (-105 via DraftKings)

Going up against Phoenix tonight, I’m a bit surprised his rebound prop total isn’t higher. Lowry has struggled of late, but his props have come down too far, and he’s due for some significant positive regression.

In the last two weeks, Lowry has averaged 3.3 boards a game and on the season that number sits at 4.5 a game. The rebounds continue to come against everybody.

This is one of the better values on the slate with the BettingPros Prop Bet Cheat Sheet giving this prop a 69 percent chance to hit with a +39 percent expected value.

Dennis Schroder OVER 4.5 Assists (+120 via FanDuel)

It’s no surprise that the Lakers are banged up, and only one man can save them: Dennis Schroder. The Lakers are riding a three-game winning streak but with LeBron James missing the last game and Troy Brown Jr. questionable, there is a lot of value for the Lakers’ props.

With Atlanta’s top-10-ranked pace of play to go along with the Lakers’ second-fastest pace, Schroder will have plenty of possessions to dish the rock. The Hawks’ offense simply does not scare me enough to fade Los Angeles tonight.

Other Props:

Dennis Schroder OVER 1.5 Rebounds (-180 via FanDuel)

Julius Randle UNDER 27.5 Points (-113 via FanDuel)

CJ McCollum UNDER 25.5 Points (-125 via FanDuel)
