Top 5 NBA Player Prop Bets: Celtics vs. Mavericks (Game 4)

In what could be the last game of the NBA season, Dallas will attempt to stave off elimination against Boston in a win-or-go-home situation. The Celtics have proven to be too daunting of a task to overcome, even with Kristaps Porzingis getting injured in Game 2, missing Wednesday's contest, and most likely this one as well.

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Jaylen Brown Over 24.5 Points (-108)

Not only is Jaylen Brown leading the team, averaging 24.9 points over this playoff run, but the average for the series against Dallas is just as consistent, at 24.3. The Boston wing is scoring efficiently as well, with a phenomenal shooting percentage of 53.4% over the course of the playoffs and an average of 55.1% facing the Mavericks in the finals.
Brown has a chance to not only win his first championship tonight but also has the opportunity to win the Finals MVP Trophy. A high-scoring performance of 25 points or more could certainly seal the deal.

There is also obviously a scenario where the Celtics may very well be in a good position to close this contest out early. If that is the case, you can expect Brown to be a major reason why.

P.J. Washington Over 6.5 Rebounds (-122)

The Mavericks will need every last effort to pull this win out, so we expect a major increase in rebounding aggression tonight. P.J. Washington is averaging 6.7 rebounds over the course of the playoffs. He has surpassed 6.5 rebounds in four games straight and six of the last eight contests.
Boston has allowed the opposition to grab over 43 rebounds per game throughout these playoffs. With Daniel Gafford losing minutes to Derrick Lively II, the two top rebounding options who play the most minutes are Luka Doncic and Washington.
Two rebounds for three quarters, and one in the last does not seem too insurmountable in a game that is as must-win as can possibly be. We think the Dallas forward is in a solid position to squeak this one out with seven or eight rebounds.

Sam Hauser Over 1.5 Three-Pointers (-165)

In the spirit of candor, this pick is mainly predicated on the fact that Peyton Pritchard has been completely wiped as an option to hammer for lower selections.
The number of three-point attempts that the Celtics’ spark off the bench has taken in correlation to minutes played is scary. Sam Hauser has shot 11 times from beyond the arc in 40 minutes of total time on the court this series.
In two of three games this series, the 1.5 total has been exceeded, including three made in the last contest. What brings the most confidence is the Boston forward is connecting at a 58% clip after only hitting one three-pointer on 14 attempts in the whole series against the Pacers.

Hauser seems to have found the form against Dallas and is getting multiple opportunities to shoot from deep.

Jrue Holiday Over 10.5 Assists + Rebounds (-118)

Jrue Holiday has been one of the unsung heroes of this fantastic playoff run for the Celtics. With the injury to Kristaps Porzingis, the veteran guard has been essential in getting the organization in position to raise their 18th championship banner.
Granted, in the 2024 playoffs, scoring, rebounding and defense have been the areas where Holiday has made the most impact. Yet the assists have also been right there, dishing out 77 in total for an average of 4.5 per game.
Holiday has only fallen short of the 10.5 total for assists + rebounds just once in the last seven games, posting an average of 7.4 boards with 5.1 assists over that span. This threshold just seems a tad low for Boston’s lead play-maker, who is rebounding like a forward recently in what could be a deciding game of the 2024 season.

Derrick Jones Jr. Over 2.5 Rebounds (-110)

Speaking of low, this total seems directly predicated on the possibility that the Dallas forward will only play 16 minutes, as he did in the last contest. Fun fact:  He cleared the 2.5 boards in that amount of playing time.
While a change in strategy could result in another minutes reduction, it's extremely difficult to see Derrick Jones Jr.’s time on the court falling under 20 again.
Jones Jr. has surpassed this rebound total in all three games against the Celtics, averaging 3.0, which includes six boards in Game 1. The Mavericks forward has also successfully grabbed over 2.5 rebounds in the last 11 of 15 contests.
With Boston missing one of its major rebounding options, the opportunity to exceed this total seems even greater.
