NBA Player Props & Bets: Friday (1/23)
There are eight games across The Association today, and no shortage of options to explore. Let's get into some of our favorite NBA player props for Friday, January 23rd.
Tari Eason’s minutes have been quite volatile as of late, which would, in most cases, be a direct line to an under on his points prop. However, the over on his rebounds prop appears to be a high-probability play that we are certainly in favor of. Eason faces an Eastern Conference opponent this evening, and his success rate against the opposing conference is phenomenal.
Eason has absolutely dominated the 4.5 threshold in regards to rebounds when playing against the Eastern Conference. The Rockets forward recorded at least five boards in the previous 20 matchups against Eastern Conference opponents. Eason is averaging 7.7 rebounds in those 20 games.
The veteran forward has averaged 7.5 boards over the previous 10 games, and 6.7 rebounds in the last 10 contests when facing an Eastern Conference opponent. Eason has reached five or more rebounds in eight out of the last nine games. There's simply too much value to pass up on this selection.
Dennis Schroder 4+ Assists (+106)
Since missing three games due to a suspension, Dennis Schroder has settled into a backup role, playing around 18-20 minutes per game. Normally, it's not the best idea to take an over on a player who has not been able to break 20 minutes in their last five performances. However, the veteran guard has been a reliable source of assists when playing on the road, as well as against the Central Division, going all the way back to his days in Brooklyn.
Schroder is averaging 5.5 assists this season. When on the road, that average only slightly dips to 5.3. The Kings guard has finished with four or more assists in three out of his previous five road contests. Schroeder is dishing out 4.3 dimes per game in January.
The Kings guard recorded at least four assists in the last 18 games against the Central Division when on the road. Schroder has finished with at least four assists in nine out of the last 10 games when facing a Central Division opponent. The journeyman guard is averaging 5.3 assists in the last 10 games against the Eastern Conference.
Myles Turner 12+ Points (-111)
Myles Turner is currently listed as probable for this contest with an ankle injury. Make sure to check the BettingPros App later in the day for any updates. As of now, all signs point to Tuner taking the court this evening. Consistency has been quite the hindrance for Turner this season. However, we think this matchup provides a small edge in our favor.
Turner is averaging 12.2 points per game on the season. This creates a very small window of success at first glance. Having said that, it's the success against the opponent that instills confidence in this selection. Turner reached 12+ points in the last eight games played against Denver. The veteran center scored 16 points in 24 minutes on 5-of-8 shooting from the field when these two teams last met.
Turner is averaging 17.4 points over the previous eight games against the Nuggets. The Bucks center is connecting on 47.5% of his field-goal attempts when facing Denver, while averaging 1.4 baskets per game from deep. Turner is also averaging two blocks over that span, so the prop for rejections in this contest may also be a viable option to mull over.
Derik Queen 10+ Points (-111)
The previous two matchups against the Grizzlies haven't exactly been fruitful for Derik Queen, averaging 6.5 points. However, the third time could very well be the charm in this case, and we are going to back the rookie center on the road against Memphis. Queen is averaging 12.5 points per game on the season, and finished with 10+ points in 7-of-10 games in January.
The center out of Maryland has scored 10+ points in 13 out of his previous 20 games, while shooting over 49% from the field. Queen averages 10.1 points this season when playing on the road, and has reached 10+ points in four consecutive road games.
The Pelicans center scored at least 10 points in the previous nine games against the Southwest division. Queen is averaging 16.9 points through those contests, while shooting 52.2%. The young center has made at least five field goals in seven consecutive games against the Southwest Division.
Royce O'Neale 3+ Made Three-Pointers (+125)
Royce O'Neale was the cause of increased volumes of happiness over the first couple of months of the season. Seriously, this prop cashed for weeks at a time with a plus return - including the first six consecutive contests to begin the year. As most props do, the return diminished due to success, then the success itself decreased. At that point, it made little sense to stay on that boat.
O'Neale is an extremely streaky shooter, so after some time away, we are going to revert back to this selection. The veteran forward appears to be on another hot streak from a three-point perspective, and missing out on that sounds like a terrible idea. O'Neale has made at least three baskets from beyond the arc in two consecutive contests and in five straight games playing on the road as a favorite.
O'Neale is averaging 3.3 three-pointers in 10 previous road games, and he has hit three shots from above the perimeter in seven out of his last 10 road contests. The Suns forward for has also knocked down at least three shots from downtown in seven out of his previous nine games.
Enjoy the games tonight. Best of luck with your picks.
