(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Tre Johnson 12+ Points (+102)
We took a shot on Tre Johnson for two three-point baskets on Friday that fell short. Johnson had been rolling from deep, but the selection simply went under to an uncharacteristic shooting performance (0-of-3 from long distance) and only 20 minutes of playing time. The young guard did finish with 12 points, which is what we will be focusing on today
Johnson has recorded at least two three-point baskets in five out of the last six consecutive contests. The Wizards guard is hitting 2.4 baskets per game from three-point distance over that span. The rookie out of Texas is scoring 12.8 points per game over the previous six contests, and has eclipsed 11.5 points in five of them.
The Wizards guard is averaging 11.2 points per game when playing at home, and scored 12 points when Washington last faced Memphis. Johnson has scored at least 12 points in five out of the previous six games he played 20+ minutes.
Quinten Post 2+Three-Pointers Made (-115)
The center option for Golden State is averaging 1.5 three-point baskets made per game on the season, while shooting 32.1% from beyond the arc. While the efficiency leaves a lot to be desired, the 4.5 attempts each contest are entirely more intriguing. At almost five three-point attempts, we need Post to be a bit more locked in than usual.
The Warriors center has made at least two three-point shots in four out of the last seven games. Post is currently experiencing a streak of three consecutive games without connecting on two three-pointers. This is the perfect opportunity to catch the worm on the turn, so to speak. Toronto is fresh off allowing 15 three-point baskets and is conceding 12.6 per contest.
Post has hit at least two shots from three-point distance in his six previous road games. The young center finished with two three-pointers in four out of his last five games against the Eastern Conference. Post has made at least two three-pointers in five out of eight games when playing the Eastern Conference.
Deandre Ayton 10+ Rebounds (+103)
Deandre Ayton is pulling down 8.7 boards per game, which means we need some help to reach our threshold for the contest. Ayton has seemingly increased his rebound production in December, with nine rebounds each contest.
Ayton has eclipsed 9.5 rebounds in four out of his last eight games. A two-rebound performance in the most recent contest for Los Angeles severely hampers recent averages; however, that seems more of an outlier than anything. If you exclude that outing, the Lakers center is averaging 11.7 rebounds per game in his last seven outings.
Ayton put up 15 rebounds in the last matchup against Sacramento this season. Ayton is coming off a terrible performance and looks to be in a great spot to bounce back with 10 boards this evening.
Shaedon Sharpe Under 23.5 Points (-118)
Shaedon Sharpe is putting up 21.9 points per game. The Portland guard ranks just outside of the top 30 (29th) amongst his peers in regards to points scored per game. Sharpe is connecting on a very solid 45.8% when shooting from the field, and 31.9% from beyond the arc. The Kentucky product has been on the floor for an average of 31.5 minutes per game in December, while averaging 18.5 attempts each contest.
Unfortunately, Sharpe has reached 24 points in only three out of the last 13 games, with an average of 23.3 points over the last 10 contests. The Trail Blazers guard has scored fewer than 24 points in four consecutive games. Sharpe has failed to reach 24 points in six out of the last 10 contests.
The young guard averages 20.2 points when playing at home - a sizable contrast to his 23.4 points average when on the road. Sharpe is averaging 21 points against the Western Conference this season, and 22.8 in five games played on a Sunday. The dynamic guard has gone under 24 points in four out of his previous seven contests at home.
Tobias Harris 2+ Three-Pointers Made (+121)
This is another selection where the player has been on an atrocious run regarding three-point shooting. While it may be more of a sprinkle bet, we are banking on Tobias Harris to get back into proper shooting form against an opponent he has fared well against in the past.
Harris is only averaging 1.2 baskets from deep over the last 10 contests. Harris has made two shots or more from beyond the perimeter in just two out of the last 10 games played. The Bucks forward is connecting on an abysmal 30% when shooting from three-point range over that span.
Harris has connected on two or more baskets from beyond the arc in his previous six contests against the Clippers. The veteran forward is averaging 1.7 three-pointers made on the road compared to 1.1 when playing at home.
We wouldn't fault you in the least for taking the under side of this selection and pairing it with another option for a small parlay. Having said that, the return should be way higher on a 20% success rate over the previous 10 games. The sportsbooks appear to be leaning towards the over, while the money will continue to come in on the under due to regency bias. This is a quarter-unit bet. You probably want to wait until closer to tip-off to maximize your return.
