NBA Playoffs First Basket Scorer Odds, Picks & Predictions: Sunday (4/23)
First baskets are always fun because it's a big payoff if you hit them. Let's see who is grabbing the first score on today's slate.

Donovan Mitchell (+420)
This series has been defensive-centric, as each game has gone under 200 points. That was to be expected from the Cavaliers and their top-ranked adjusted defense, but the Knicks, who are in the top half of the league in points allowed, have also kept Cleveland in check offensively.
Returning to the previous games is essential when looking at the first-basket possibility. Cleveland's Jarrett Allen has dominated the tipoff by helping the team gain the first possession in all three games, two of which resulted in the first basket. Donovan Mitchell has one of those first baskets, and as the primary scorer, they rely on him, and he leads the team 14 this season.
Jamal Murray (+800)
The Timberwolves looked lost, and although they had their best performance of the series in Game 3, it wasn't enough, and they never were in earshot of winning. In the first two games, it was all Jamal Murray in the backcourt that pushed this offense, but Nikola Jokic showed why he's an MVP with a triple-double in the win.
It's easy to dominate a game when you set the tone, and Denver has done that by going 3-for-3 in tip-off wins and first baskets. Denver has relied on perimeter shooting throughout this series, and Jamal Murray already has one, and I like him to grab another one tonight.
Dejounte Murray (+650)
The Hawks were able to pull off a win at home, but it still will be tough for them to pull off the upset. Although the Celtics hold the 2-1 series lead, the Hawks have the 2-1 advantage in the tip-off wins, and I'll favor Clint Capela to help give Atlanta the initial possession.
Dejounte Murray leads the Hawks in first-shot percentage and does have a first-team basket in this series.
