New York Knicks at Boston Celtics
- Leg 1: Celtics -10.5 (-110)
- Leg 2: Celtics To Win Both Halves (+110)
- Leg 3: Jalen Brunson Over 26.5 Points (-120)
The Celtics need to regroup after a devastating loss. They had a 20-point lead late into the third quarter and looked like they would cruise to a Game 1 win, but the Knicks came back, forced overtime, and won.
One of Boston’s biggest criticisms was that they live and die by the three. Last night, they fell victim to that as they shot a playoff record 60 threes and missed a playoff record 45. Jayson Tatum even said in the postgame conference that they need to be more aggressive going to the basket going forward.
They lost their inside presence early. Kristaps Porzingis missed the second half due to illness and didn't record a point in 12 minutes. He plans on playing, which will be critical because it allows the Celtics to defend against the Knicks ‘ frontcourt.
Boston isn't going to shy away from the three after one bad night. The perimeter shooting is what they have anchored their offense on, and they will continue to do so. The question is, can New York play another competitive game? It will depend on whether Brunson stays a factor. He's been fantastic in the playoffs and had a 29-point performance in Game 1. The Knicks have a great starting five with size in Karl-Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby is one of the best defenders in the league, and Josh Hart and Brunson are a great backcourt.
However, this is still a Knicks team that has lost to the Celtics by double digits in three of five this year, and Boston won five straight by double digits following a loss.

Denver Nuggets at Oklahoma City Thunder
- Leg 1: Over 229.5 Total Points (-110)
- Leg 2: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander 34+ Points (-110)
- Leg 3: Aaron Gordon 17+ Points (-125)
The Nuggets played in a challenging series that went seven games against the Clippers, so it was going to be tough to turn around 48 hours later and beat the top team in the NBA. The Thunder had a 97.3% win probability with only 4:31 left in the game, but Denver would close out on a 19-6 run to steal Game 1 on the road.
This series features two MVP candidates, including Denver's Nikola Jokic, who leads the team, averaging 26.2 points in the playoffs. Still, he doesn't feel like the guy who is responsible for them being in this situation. You could argue that Aaron Gordon has been the most important player on this Nuggets team; in Game 4 of the first round, he was under the basket of a Jokic three-point attempt at the buzzer and got the winning putback before time expired. He did it again in Game 1 against OKC, where he hit a three with 2.8 seconds for the win.
The Thunder still played a great game, with all five starters scoring in double digits, including Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who had his third straight 30-point performance, and Alex Caruso, who grabbed 20 points and five steals in 26 minutes. Their biggest problem towards the end of that game was that they allowed Denver to chip away from the free-throw line, so they were adding points with the clock stopped.
Oklahoma City will have a better approach, but we should see a higher-scoring game.
