Indiana Pacers at New York Knicks
- Leg 1: Pacers +4.5 (-110)
- Leg 2: Pascal Siakam 18+ Points (-145)
- Leg 3: Pacers Team Total Over 109.5 Points (-115)
The Knicks have a lot of talent, but you can't say they didn't have some luck getting this far. In the first round, there were numerous instances where Detroit outplayed them, but their unfamiliarity with the Pistons in the playoffs may have played a role, as they blew some leads late. Blowing leads was the theme against the Celtics, who had 20-point leads in several games, but Boston's three-point shooting went cold, and New York was able to do enough to win.
The Pacers had some luck on their side in both rounds. They played a couple of games against a Damian Lillard-less Bucks and faced a depleted Cavaliers roster early on.
Indiana will employ the same strategy it used in the semi-finals: Speed and pressure. The Pacers finished the regular season sixth in pace of play while the Knicks were 24th. They were able to bring that intensity in the last round against Cleveland, but they were efficient as all five starters (Tyrese Haliburton, Pascal Siakam, Myles Turner, Aaron Nesmith and Andrew Nembhard) averaged at least 10 points per game and shot 50% from the floor.
What ended their season last year was their lack of defense. They have become a more balanced team this season, and their defense has improved significantly, going from 24th in defensive rating last year to 14th this year.
New York just came off a series playing against the slowest team in the league, and they could be caught off guard before adjusting going forward.
