Los Angeles Lakers (-150) at Golden State Warriors (+125) | O/U 234.5 (-110/-110)
- Leg 1: Warriors Moneyline (+124)
- Leg 2: Over 234.5 Points (-105)
- Leg 3: Brandin Podziemski Over 24.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-110)
The Lakers (4-1) and Warriors (2-3) meet at Chase Center in San Francisco at 10:00 p.m. ET on Amazon Prime Video. The Lakers won the season opener at Crypto.com Arena by 22 points (127-105), easily covering as 6.5-point favorites, as the under (233.5) cashed.
Los Angeles shot a whopping 57% (46-of-81) from the field, 39% (11-of-28) from behind the arc and 89% (24-of-27) from the free-throw line. Luka Doncic had 28 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, with three steals and five threes, but he had help, too. Walker Kessler was a perfect 12-of-12 from the floor, scoring 26 points and grabbing nine boards with two blocks, while Austin Reaves posted 23 points with six assists and a block, going 10-of-10 from the charity stripe.
Golden State was outrebounded by seven, shot just 41% (38-of-92) from the field and 22% (8-of-36) from the perimeter. Steph Curry was the only player to score more than 14 points, and the only starter with 12+ points. Veteran Draymond Green had a dreadful night, finishing with two points on 1-of-4 shooting while turning the ball over four times in 21 minutes. He did, though, have eight assists and four rebounds.
Portland tripped up the Lakers for their first loss on Tuesday, but Los Angeles rebounded against the Clippers, winning 103-87 as 1.5-point underdogs. The Lakers have alternated covers and non-covers in each of the first five outings. The over has edged the under 3-2.
Golden State has won back-to-back games in Denver and Minnesota after dropping the first three, and the Warriors have covered three in a row, while the over is 3-0 in the past three outings.
We’ll take the Warriors on the moneyline, as they come home with revenge on their minds and a little momentum. And we’ll go over on the total based on the recent trends.
If you’re a frequent reader in this space, you know I love a good combo prop, but I usually target the biggest stars. I like to keep it simple. However, Brandin Podziemski is an attractive option to record 25+ combined points + rebounds + assists.
Parlay Odds: +471
Denver Nuggets (-180) at Phoenix Suns (+152) | O/U 231.5 (-106/-114)
- Leg 1: Nuggets -4.5 (-108)
- Leg 2: Over 231.5 Points (-106)
- Leg 3: Nikola Jokic 47.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-114)
The Nuggets (2-2) limp into the Valley of the Sun after five straight wins against the Suns (1-2), including a regular-season sweep last season and two wins in Phoenix. The over has cashed in four consecutive meetings, too.
Denver has been a bit bipolar so far this season, losing by 12 points to Oklahoma City (96-84) before erupting for 141 points against New Orleans. They then got dusted by 20 against Golden State before rebounding to a 104-91 win against New Orleans. Apparently, the Nuggets only need to face the Pelicans.
The Suns beat the Warriors 131-122 on Saturday at home, but they’ve dropped their other two road games, going 0-3 against the spread (ATS) this season. The over hit in the past two games, and they’ve allowed 122+ points in every game to date.
We’ll take Denver -4.5, and we’ll go with the over based on the Suns’ lack of defense so far.
As for player props, it’s combo time again. It’s fun to play Nikola Jokic combos and watch him work and amass counting stats, and it should be especially pleasing to watch him against the Suns’ shabby defense.
Parlay Odds: +460
