NBA Same Game Parlays & Picks: Saturday (1/10)

We have a total of six games on today’s NBA slate. One of the games is a 1:00 p.m. ET game between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Cleveland Cavaliers, but we’ll skip that, focusing on the evening slate beginning at 7:00 p.m. ET. However, the Timberwolves-Cavaliers game is the only nationally-televised game, streaming on Amazon Prime.

We have a couple of NBA same-game parlays (SGPs) for Saturday night's exciting NBA slate.

Los Angeles Clippers (+210) at Detroit Pistons (-255) | O/U 219.5 (-108/-112)

The Clippers (14-23) and the Pistons (28-9) meet at Little Caesars Arena at 7:30 p.m. ET in downtown Detroit.

These teams met at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles on December 28,th with the Clippers handling the Pistons 112-99 as a 1.5-point favorite as the under (228.5) cashed. Los Angeles has won nine of the past 10 meetings since April 14th, 2021, while the under is 3-1 in the past four outings and 7-3 in the 10-game span.

Looking back at that late December meeting, Detroit hit 41% (34-of-82) from the field, while shooting just 24% (7-of-29) from the three-point arc, although it was a solid 86% (24-of-28) from the free-throw line. Jalen Duren did his part with 18 points, 14 rebounds and a block, while knocking down 8-of-12 from the field. Cade Cunningham was also sharp, hitting 9-of-18 to finish with 27 points, but it was a precipitous drop-off after that.

For the Clippers, it was the Kawhi Leonard show, as he dropped 55 points on 17-of-26, including 5-of-10 from behind the arc, while knocking down 16-of-17 from the charity stripe. Leonard also had five steals, three blocks and two assists. James Harden was a solid complementary option with 28 points, seven assists and four boards, while knocking down three triples and going 11-of-11 from the free-throw line.

Detroit has won three in a row, and it is 4-1 straight up (SU) and against the spread (ATS) in the past five outings. The alarm clock went off since that loss in L.A. The under has cashed in six in a row, too.

The Clippers are 2-2 SU in the past four games, and 2-5 ATS in the previous five outings, while cashing the over in three of the past four games. We’ll take the Clippers with the points, and let’s go low on the total based on Clippers trends.

As far as the player props, Cunningham would’ve been a good option to back for the double-double, but he is questionable due to a wrist injury, so change of plans. We’ll back Leonard to go over 32.5 combined points + rebounds. He dropped 55 on the Pistons in the last outing, so it’s a good play, right?

Charlotte Hornets (-176) at Utah Jazz (+148) | O/U 237.5 (-110/-110)

At 9:30 p.m. ET in Salt Lake City, the Hornets (13-25) and Jazz (13-24) lock horns at Delta Center. On the surface, this doesn’t look like the most exciting matchup, but trust me, it is worth a look.

Charlotte was cooled off in a 114-112 loss to the visiting Indiana Pacers on Thursday, but it had covered in the previous five games. They are still 8-2 ATS in the past 10 games, and 10-3 ATS across the previous 13 outings. The under has cashed in four in a row for the Hornets, too, as it has allowed 99 or fewer points in three of those four outings.

These teams met in Charlotte back on November 2nd, with the Hornets tuning out the Jazz 126-103 as a 1.5-point underdog as the under (232.5) cashed. Lauri Markkanen had 29 points with seven rebounds for the Jazz, while Miles Bridges matched him with 29 points, six assists, four boards and three triples. Collin Sexton had 10 points and 12 assists for the double-double against his former mates.

Utah picked up a 116-114 win over the Dallas Mavericks in Salt Lake City on Thursday, covering as a 4.5-point underdog, improving to 4-1 ATS in the past five games, despite five outright losses in the past six outings. Utah is 6-2 ATS across the past eight outings, while the under is 5-2 across the previous seven showings.

We’re going to back the Jazz to cover, as they’re 6-2 ATS in the past eight as an underdog, while the Hornets are 2-4 ATS in the past six games as a favorite. And, based on the first meeting, as well as recent trends, we’re going to go low on the total.

We were looking at Jusuf Nurkic to record a double-double, but he is questionable after missing Thursday’s game due to a toe injury. Instead, let’s turn to rookie Kon Knueppel to go over 24.5 combined points + rebounds. He is averaging 19.2 points and six rebounds per game in five contests in January.
