Houston Rockets @ Oklahoma City Thunder Same Game Parlay
Leg #1: Over 227.5 Points (-110)
The Rockets acquired Kevin Durant this offseason, which should immediately help an offense that ranked 13th in scoring last season. These two defenses each ranked in the top six in scoring defense last season, with each allowing fewer than 110 points per game. Despite those stats, four of the five games between these two teams featured at least 235 points. Look for the Thunder's fourth-ranked offense from a year ago to push the pace here.
Leg #2: Reed Sheppard Under 1.5 Made Three-Pointers (+119)
Starting point guard Fred VanVleet suffered a torn ACL this offseason, and it seemed like Reed Sheppard was poised to replace him. However, Sheppard was left off the opening night starting lineup, which has me thinking his role may not be as big as many initially assumed. Last season, the Thunder had the best three-point defense, allowing opponents to make just 34.2% of their threes. This is a tough first game for Sheppard, who averaged just 0.9 made threes per game last year.
Leg #3: Alperen Sengun 9+ Rebounds (-137)
For the final leg of this parlay, I'm playing it a bit safe with Alperen Sengun. Last season, Sengun averaged 10.3 rebounds per game. He grabbed at least nine rebounds in three of his four games against the Thunder, which is why I'm backing this number of nine or more rebounds instead of the standard 10. If you want to get a little greedy, you can, as the Thunder allowed the 11th-most rebounds per game last season.
Parlay Odds: +675
Golden State Warriors @ Los Angeles Lakers Same Game Parlay
Leg #1: Warriors Moneyline (-135)
The Warriors went just 1-3 against the Lakers last season, but without LeBron James, the Lakers are missing 24.4 points per game to start the season. With Luka Doncic and the rest of the starting lineup, the Lakers certainly have enough firepower to win this game. However, with Jimmy Butler looking likely to play, I'll back the Warriors to win, as their only missing piece, Moses Moody, isn't nearly as integral to the team's performance.
Leg #2: Draymond Green Under 5.5 Rebounds (-119)
Draymond Green averaged 6.1 rebounds per game last season, but this isn't a good matchup for him. While he pulled down 11 rebounds in one of his three games against the Lakers last season, he only managed five in his other two contests. The Lakers allowed the ninth-fewest rebounds per game last season, and that was before they acquired Deandre Ayton. Though the price for this under is expensive, it's one of the safest plays of the game.
Leg #3: Luka Doncic Under 3.5 Made Three-Pointers (-102)
Last season, Luka Doncic had two of his worst shooting performances against the Warriors. In the final meeting between the two teams, Doncic went 0-of-6 from deep. While he did make six threes in one of his three games against the Warriors, in the first meeting of the season between the two teams, Doncic went just 2-of-10 from deep. Taking Doncic's under is always dangerous because he averages more than 10 attempts per game. But the Warriors have been a bad matchup for him, and they allowed the 12th-fewest threes per game last year.
