Denver Nuggets at Dallas Mavericks

The Nuggets are staying strong without Nikola Jokic in the lineup, as they are 5-4 since the three-time MVP went down with a knee injury. There are some notable wins in there against Boston and Philadelphia. It likely has to do with other players getting healthy, including Aaron Gordon. While Christian Braun did initially return from an early-season injury, he was out on Tuesday against the Pelicans. However, we have seen a difference in offensive production since Jokic's injury. Denver led the league in points per game (125.7); since then, the team is 20th (109).
The Mavericks also have their fair share of injuries. Most notably, they'll be without Anthony Davis for six weeks as he recovers from a hand injury. This is better than the earlier prognosis of a season-ending surgery that was initially reported. This feels like a team that could become a contender as they stay in the hunt. They are currently in 12th place and within range of the NBA Play-In tournament. If Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving can turn it around, they could have a good enough starting lineup that includes Cooper Flagg.
Despite Denver having the better record, they have dropped both games against Dallas. One significant thing both teams lack is a defensive presence, so look for a high-scoring matchup.

Washington Wizards at Los Angeles Clippers

I think we can categorize the Clippers as making a complete turnaround and are back as a threat in the Western Conference. It looked bleak early in the season, as they started with a 6-21 record, but a light has switched on, going 9-2 since.
Give credit to this defense, as they are one of the toughest during this revival, ranking ninth in points allowed per game (113.5). That side of the ball is anchoring an overall offense that has struggled, ranking 27th in points scored overall (112.1). They haven’t been much better in their last 11 games, ranking 17th (114.7). That's why Kawhi Leonard's presence is crucial because he's been the Clippers’ best offensive player, leading the league with 32.7 points per game since December 20th.
This short stretch is a great chance to boost their record with three of their next four games against teams under .500, including the Wizards twice. Trae Young has yet to suit up for Washington, so they lack talent at the moment.
