Denver Nuggets at Toronto Raptors

Despite the injuries to Aaron Gordon and Christian Braun, they remained competitive in the Western Conference. The team's latest injury might have changed the team’s trajectory. A collective gasp in the Mile High City occurred when they saw Nikola Jokic hobble off the court on Monday. He luckily didn't severely hurt his knee; it will, however, keep him off the court for at least four weeks. There is a history of a noticeable drop-off without the Joker, as the team is 26-32 without him.  It will all rest on Jamal Murray, who is averaging 25.2 points, to lead the team, but hopefully Gordon and Braun will return soon.

Toronto presents an excellent defense, ranking sixth in defensive efficiency. The Nuggets have leaned on their offense throughout the season, leading the league with 125.7 points per game, while their defense has struggled, ranking 19th in points allowed at 118.5. It will take some time for the Nuggets to adjust without a player who is averaging a triple-double.

New York Knicks at San Antonio Spurs

This is the game of the night as it's a rematch of the NBA Cup finals. The Knicks are on a roll, as their NBA Cup win was part of a seven-game winning streak. Although that streak was eventually snapped, they have still currently won three straight. During their fourth winning streak, Jalen Brunson has been a force, averaging 35.7 points, which includes a 47-point performance. Karl-Anthony Towns has also been on a stellar run with four straight games with a triple-double, scoring at least 35 points and 13 rebounds in two of those games.

The Spurs are doing something most teams couldn't even imagine; they have their star player come off the bench. Victor Wembanyama has been coming off the bench since returning from his injury, but it's working, as the Spurs are 6-3 in that time. It's because their backcourt featuring Stephon Castle, De'Aaron Fox, and Devin Vassell can play uptempo with the smaller lineup and control the pace. However, when they want to go big, they have Wemby and Luke Kornet, both of whom are great options when they need an upgrade in defense.

The Spurs were competitive in the NBA Cup matchup until the fourth quarter. The Knicks will be without one of their key players, as Mitchell Robinson, who led that game with 15 rebounds, is out with an ankle injury. That could help the Spurs inside, along with adjustments from the last game to get a win.
