The San Antonio Spurs were dead last in the NBA in defense against guards. That should help Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic dominate in tonight’s game.
Those two played at an elite level in last year’s postseason run. Many thought those two couldn’t co-exist, but Doncic and Irving proved they’d be able to. With higher expectations this season, look for Doncic and Irving to take off to begin the season. Irving has scored at least 24 points in 67% of games against the Spurs dating back to the 22-23 season.
On the other hand, Doncic secured at least 30 points in 65% of games last year. The Spurs allowed 117.52 points per game, which was 26th in the NBA last season.
Meanwhile, is Victor Wembanyama’s hype getting too big? He currently has a points prop of 25.5 but hit this line in only 31% of games last season. He’s an incredible talent, but 26 is a bit too high, especially since the Mavericks held teams to 27.9% from downtown last season.
