NBA Sleeper Picks Player Predictions (5/6)

Welcome to Sleeper Picks! Sleeper’s newest offering promised plenty of entertainment and action, and they delivered. We will break down our top three picks for tonight's NBA action. Similar to fantasy sports, the goal in Sleeper Picks is to draft a team of players based on who you think will perform better than the field. But with Sleeper Picks, you pick teams of 2-8 players from multiple teams based on your preferences and predict whether those players will score more or less than a predetermined amount. There are a number of ways to play and a variety of strategies to employ, and we’ll guide you through the process each week.

NBA Sleeper Picks Player Predictions (5/6/24)

Regular season record: 202-130
Playoff record: 19-20

Pascal Siakam (F – IND): OVER 14.5 points (alt line)

I was going to with Siakam 3.5 first quarter points, but with no justification or probability to discuss aside from feel, we will pivot to an alt line on Pascal. Siakam has taken a major step back in the scoring department, seemingly buying into the Pacers brand of team basketball. There is a lot of talent on the Pacers roster, and if they aren't forcing things by trying to get Pascal going, we see them back to being the team we all thought Spicy P would fit so well with to begin with. Pascal scored 17 or more points in four of the six games in the first round and should be able to hit at least 15 against a Knicks team he matches up much better against. Pascal scored 18 and 19 in his final two regular season games against New York. Press the More on Pascal for Monday night.

Michael Porter Jr. (F – DEN): OVER 4.5 1st quarter points

MPJ is back to being a force in the first quarter, scoring seven or more points in three of the five games in the opening round. Porter Jr. scored six points in the first in his last game against Los Angeles. We have all seen that this total will not hit as frequently as it did from the all-star break until the final week of the season, but he has shown enough in the first round that the Nuggets should seek out his matchup against Aaron Gordon or Jaden McDaniels frequently. Mash the More on MPJ for Monday night.

Anthony Edwards (G/F – MIN): OVER 3.5 rebounds (alt line)

The last thing I wanted to do was tackle an alt rebound total on Ant-Man, but when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade, and when Sleeper Picks gives you inflated totals, you make alt-line soup. Edwards has solidified himself as a superstar in these playoffs, but it hasn't all been about buckets. Ant-Man has recorded seven or more rebounds in four of his five playoff games, including hauling in seven in the first game of this series. He's also dished out five or more assists in four of five and has two or more StOcks in every game. Ant's lowest rebound total in the playoffs was five boards in Game 2 against Phoenix. Hit the More on Edwards for Game 2.

Writers note: The lines are constantly changing on Sleeper (and sometimes expiring), so there is a high probability that one or all of the numbers may no longer be the same when you open your app. There are excellent values when they are first posted, with the only catch being that they are not all released at the same time. Vigilance could provide a solid return on investment this season, literally.
