The Saints are currently tied for the best record in the NFC at 11-3. Even though they have wrapped up the NFC South title, there’s plenty on the line as New Orleans sets their sights on the top overall seed for the playoffs. It won’t be easy, though, as this is a tricky matchup on the road against a surging AFC opponent. Quarterback Drew Brees has been humming along for the Saints, racking up 656 yards with nine touchdowns and no interceptions in the last two weeks. There’s a chance he’ll continue to thrive against a mediocre Titans’ defense.

The Titans need this win in the worst way. They are currently one game behind the Texans for the AFC South title, and Tennessee would miss out on a wild card spot if the season ended today. The Titans have been extremely good at home this season, the latest exception coming in the form of a 24-21 loss vs. Houston last Sunday. However, the Titans have all the ingredients to win this game, assuming they can execute their gameplan of balanced offense while controlling the time of possession by establishing running back Derrick Henry.

Overview

The BettingPros’ experts are leaning toward the Saints against the spread, as 65% of them have locked them in as road favorites. The public agrees, taking New Orleans at a 69% clip. When looking at it on paper, the Saints are clearly the more talented team across the board. However, extra motivation (for making the playoffs) and a friendly home environment are on the Titans’ side. Will that be enough to put Tennessee over the top, or will the Saints march through Nashville on their way to the top overall seed in the NFC?

Trends

  • The Saints are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 overall.
  • The Titans are 4-1 ATS in their last five overall.
  • The Titans are 7-1 to the over in their last eight overall.

Prop Bets

Ryan Tannehill OVER 255 Passing Yards
There’s a good chance Tennessee will be playing from behind or get into a shootout against the Saints. Either way, Ryan Tannehill should have more passing attempts than usual. That’s a recipe to send him over this prop of 255 passing yards. Tannehill has gotten there in three of his past four games, and he should have enough volume to make that happen once again.

Bottom Line

This is definitely an interesting game, but I’m taking the Saints as road favorites. Drew Brees is playing at an insanely high level right now, and New Orleans has more playmakers on both sides of the ball to come away with the win (and cover).
