Justin Fields o35.5 Rushing Yards | -115 at PointsBet
With Fields healthy, head coach Matt Nagy has decided to put him back in Chicago’s starting lineup. We haven’t seen him since an ill-fated matchup against Baltimore’s strong rushing defense, but I’m optimistic about a bounceback showing versus the Packers tonight.
Fields ran for 43 yards against Green Bay earlier in the year. That’s been a problem for the Packers this year, as they have also allowed the fifth-most rushing yards to opposing quarterbacks (284). Taylor Heinicke racked up 95 rushing yards against them in Week 7, and Jared Goff got 46 in Week 2. Russell Wilson only had 32 rushing yards in Week 10, but he did so on only five carries.
The spread suggests the Packers will win a blowout. While that usually doesn’t bode well for rushing plays, Fields’ best days on the ground have come in losses. He accounted for a career-best 103 rushing yards in an 11-point loss to the 49ers, 45 in a two-point loss to the Steelers, and 38 in a 35-point loss to the Buccaneers. His 43-yard performance against the Packers came in a 10-point loss, too.
Lastly, Green Bay’s defense ranks 10th-best against the pass in defense-adjusted value over average (DVOA). They rank sixth-worst against the run. As a result, I recommend playing Fields’ rushing props for tonight’s edition of Sunday Night Football.
