NFL Futures: Best Bets to Win Super Bowl LVI

We’re getting closer and closer to the start of the NFL season, and while the Super Bowl is still nearly eight months away, it’s never too early to stake your claim on who could emerge as champions. This list of contenders features both of last year’s Super Bowl teams as well as the Conference runners-up and a couple of powerhouses looking to take the next step. Here are seven of my favorite picks to win Super Bowl LVI.

Chiefs +500

The AFC juggernaut has been a locomotive in the NFL across the last three seasons, running up the score on opponents while building a sneakily competent defense. Guided by Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City’s potent offense has finished in the top six in the NFL in both points scored and total yards in that three-year span. After back-to-back trips to the Super Bowl (including one victory), Kansas City will look to make it back for a three-peat – not an easy feat, but certainly one that’s not out of reach.

Buccaneers +650

Time to run it back? The Bucs certainly hope so, as the team is returning most of the key players who helped guide the team to a Super Bowl victory last season. No player is more important in that process than Tom Brady, who certainly knows a thing or two about winning championships. In his Buccaneers debut, Brady was exceptional, throwing for 4,633 yards and 40 touchdowns (second-most of his career) to just 12 picks en route to an 11-5 record. He did this in a year devoid of a conventional training camp or offseason in his first season with a new team. With another year under his belt, the incomparable Brady should be productive in Year 2. Having him at the helm makes the Buccaneers a solid bet at +650.

Bills +1200

One of the best teams in the AFC last season, the Bills look ready to take another step forward in 2021 and establish the franchise as a true title contender. Led by breakout star Josh Allen, the Bills rolled to a 13-3 record and a trip to the AFC Championship game. If the defense can improve in 2021, the Bills have what it takes to win the Super Bowl.

Rams +1300

This team has been to the Super Bowl within the last three seasons and won a playoff game last season. A shakeup at quarterback in the form of Matthew Stafford could be just what the Rams need to make it to the big game. Los Angeles will return a formidable defense anchored by Aaron Donald, and the offense is in good shape with Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods, and Cam Akers to play alongside the aforementioned Stafford.

Ravens +1400

The Ravens have excelled across the last two seasons with Lamar Jackson as the full-time starter, but the team just hasn’t been able to put it all together in the playoffs when it matters most. The defense should remain strong in the new season, and the offense could be better too, thanks to the additions of Sammy Watkins and Rashod Bateman at receiver.

Packers +1600

Despite years of underperforming in the playoffs, the Packers remain one of the most favored teams to win the Super Bowl thanks in large part to reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers’ public spat with Packers management is one to be wary of, but all signs point to him returning to the team and playing out the 2021 season. Grabbing a piece of the action at +1600 is a nice wager, because the line will surely move if Rodgers makes his arrival at Packers training camp.

Colts +2500

Indy sported a top-10 offense and top-10 defense in 2020, but the team couldn’t move on beyond the first round of the AFC playoffs. The Colts lost a close 27-24 contest to a more dynamic Bills team, and a very similar roster will have a good chance of additional success in 2021. The upgrade from Phillip Rivers to Carson Wentz could be the tipping point for this team that boasts a robust run game and elite defense. If I’m looking to take a well-educated gamble with a high payout, the Colts are my team. At +2500, this is a bet I love.
