NFL Futures Bets: Assistant Coach of the Year Picks & Predictions (2025)
Yes, the AP NFL Assistant Coach of the Year Award is a real thing. We don't hear about it much because the head coaches tend to get the bulk of the credit when a team plays well. The Associated Press has handed it out since the 2014 season. This year, a few sportsbooks have posted odds on the potential winner.
Five weeks into the season, several units have stood out. But there isn't a single offense or defense that is just blowing the competition away. From a betting perspective, that's great because it means the odds for several coaches have value. Below are our top NFL futures bets for the 2025 Assistant Coach of the Year Award.

Some of these names are familiar, but several are not. At this early stage of the season, it would be easy to make a case for several of these assistant coaches, including some not in the top 10.
However, that would make for a lengthy post. We have narrowed it down to our top three choices.
NFL Futures Bets: Assistant Coach of the Year Picks & Predictions
Jim Bob Cooter (Offensive Coordinator – Indianapolis Colts) | +550
The Colts have been one of the top teams in the NFL this season so far, and the success of their offense is a big reason why. Jim Bob Cooter’s most notable contribution has been rehabbing Daniel Jones and turning him into a viable NFL starting quarterback. If Jones can keep it up and the Colts win the division, Cooter will have to be in the conversation come the end of the season.
Klayton Adams (Offensive Coordinator – Dallas Cowboys) | +3000
Dallas had a mediocre offense last season (No. 16 in total offense). They struggled to run the ball (No. 27), which forced them to pass - and everyone knew they were going to (No. 11). They didn't improve the offensive line in the offseason and brought in another mediocre running back.
But last week, without CeeDee Lamb and down four starters on the offensive line, they ran for 180 yards. Dak Prescott threw four touchdown passes (no sacks), and Ryan Flournoy led the team in receiving yards (114). This was against the Jets, of course, but the offense ranks No. 1 in total yards, No. 3 in passing, No. 8 in rushing and No. 4 in scoring for the season.
Lou Anarumo (Defensive Coordinator – Indianapolis Colts) | +3500
Last season, the Colts’ defense was No. 29 in total defense, No. 26 against the pass, No. 24 against the run and No. 24 in scoring. This season, to date, the Colts have the No. 3 scoring defense, rank No. 12 against the run, No. 19 against the pass and No. 14 in total defense. They may need to climb up the rankings a bit for Lou Anarumo to have a shot, but if they can keep teams to fewer than 20 points a game, he could win.
