NFL Monday Night Football Anytime & First TD Scorers: Commanders vs. 49ers
Odds via DraftKings Sportsbook
Washington Commanders First TD Scorer: Jayden Daniels (+650)
Unfortunately, the Commanders won't have Jacory Croskey-Merritt after he suffered a groin injury last week. Croskey-Merritt didn't practice all week, leaving little chance of him suiting up on Monday night. Therefore, expect Daniels to have a larger role in the run game against the 49ers. Last week, the superstar led Washington in rushing in his first game back from an elbow injury. He had nine rushing attempts for 103 yards and two touchdowns against the New York Giants.
Despite coming off a significant injury, Daniels continued to have an impactful role in the run game. He has averaged seven rushing attempts for 67.7 yards per game in his 2.5 contests this year. Last week, the superstar beat his season averages. Meanwhile, the 49ers haven't faced many mobile quarterbacks this year, and none anywhere near as athletic as Daniels. Yet, San Francisco has surrendered a touchdown to opposing quarterbacks on only 12 rushing attempts.
San Francisco 49ers First TD Scorer: Mike Evans (+360)
Death, taxes, and the 49ers dealing with injuries. Unfortunately, San Francisco won't have Deebo Samuel (hamstring), De'Zhaun Stribling (ankle), and Demarcus Robinson (ankle) on Monday night. Hopefully, Evans can play despite missing time in practice this week with multiple injuries. The future Hall of Famer has been Brock Purdy's best weapon in the passing game, scoring three receiving touchdowns. More importantly, he has been the 49ers' go-to guy early in games.
Last week, Evans had the team's first touchdown in the win over the Seattle Seahawks. Furthermore, the first San Francisco touchdown has been by a wide receiver in all but one game this year. Meanwhile, the Commanders' pass defense has struggled this season. They have surrendered seven receiving touchdowns to opposing wide receivers, the third-most in the NFL. More importantly, the first touchdown scored against Washington has been a receiving touchdown in all but one contest.
Anytime TD Scorer: George Kittle (+100)
After failing to find the end zone in Week 1, Kittle had been on a scoring spree until last week. No one expected much from the superstar early in the season coming off a torn Achilles. Yet, he had four receiving touchdowns from Week 2 through Week 4, totaling at least one in every game. Furthermore, Kittle has done well at finding the end zone despite having six or fewer targets in all but one game this year.
Meanwhile, the Commanders have surrendered seven receiving touchdowns to tight ends, the second-most in the NFL. Washington has given up at least one touchdown to opposing tight ends in all but one game this season. Furthermore, they have allowed two touchdowns by opposing tight ends in three of their five games, including last week. More aggressive bettors should bet on Kittle to score two touchdowns (+600), especially given the 49ers' beat-up wide receiver unit.
Anytime TD Scorer: Terry McLaurin (+175)
Washington's passing attack has been wildly inconsistent this year because of injuries, especially at the quarterback position. Jayden Daniels, Stefon Diggs, and McLaurin have all been on the field together for 1.5 games this season. Hopefully, that will change this week. McLaurin only has one receiving touchdown in 2026, coming in Week 3 with Marcus Mariota under center. However, don't be surprised if the former Ohio State star finds the end zone on Monday night.
The 49ers have surrendered four receiving touchdowns to wide receivers over the past month. However, three of those scores were by the opposing team's No. 1 wide receiver, as Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Jaylen Waddle, and Michael Wilson have found the end zone in three consecutive weeks against San Francisco. Furthermore, all three of those touchdowns came with the wide receiver lined up out wide. McLaurin has run a team-high 77% of his routes this year on the outside.
