NFL Parlay Pick: Week 5 (2019)

The Sunday afternoon slate for Week 5 of the NFL regular season will see the majority of action in the early window, as there are just two games on tap for later in the day. All told, there are 12 games to look forward to, each of which has its own intrigue.

Here’s a quick preview and pick for each of them. All odds are current as of this writing and courtesy of PointsBet.

Arizona Cardinals at Cincinnati Bengals, 1 PM, FOX

Two of the league’s winless teams square off in Cincinnati. The Cardinals showed some fight in the first two games of the year, but it has been downhill from there. The Bengals have rotated tight games with blowout losses. They were hammered by the Steelers on Monday Night Football, so perhaps this will be one of the weeks they come to play.

The Pick: Cincinnati Bengals -3 (-105)

Buffalo Bills at Tennessee Titans, 1 PM, CBS

This is an interesting tilt between two squads which could be factors in the AFC Wild Card chase. The Bills and Titans are similar teams that can struggle on offense at times while bringing it on defense. Buffalo had problems getting going versus the Patriots last week, while Tennessee clicked in a win over the Falcons. They make it two in a row with a home win.

The Pick: Tennessee Titans -3 (-105)

Chicago Bears vs. Oakland Raiders, 1 PM, FOX

The first London game of the year will see the Bears square off with the Raiders. This will be Khalil Mack’s first opportunity to face off with his old squad. That alone could be worth the price of admission. The Raiders looked much-improved in a win over the Colts last Sunday, but the offense is no match for the ferocious Chicago defense.

The Pick: Chicago Bears -5.5 (-105)

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New Orleans Saints, 1 PM, FOX

The Buccaneers went on the road last week and stunned the Rams, while the Saints won a tight defensive game over the visiting Cowboys. New Orleans has shown a lot in the absence of Drew Brees, while Tampa Bay has been much improved under Bruce Arians. This is far from a gimme for the Saints, but the defense and home-field advantage should be difference makers.

The Pick: New Orleans Saints -3 (-105)

Minnesota Vikings at New York Giants, 1 PM, FOX

Questions abound for the Vikings, as the team just can’t get it going on offense. The Giants have woken up in big-league fashion since Daniel Jones took over as the starter, winning two in a row. In spite of that, Minnesota is a big road favorite. That makes sense on paper, but not based on how the two clubs are playing. New York covers and an outright upset is on the table to boot.

The Pick: New York Giants +5.5 (-105)

New York Jets at Philadelphia Eagles, 1 PM, CBS

The Jets had Week 4 off, while the Eagles picked up a big road win over the Packers. Sam Darnold is still on the mend, so his status is unclear as of now. Philadelphia seems to have righted the ship with last week’s victory, but New York has had a week off to prepare and are no slouches on defense. Eagles win, but Jets cover the hefty spread.

The Pick: New York Jets +13.5 (-105)

Baltimore Ravens at Pittsburgh Steelers, 1 PM, CBS

The Ravens were looking like AFC contenders through two weeks, but the same can’t be said after consecutive losses. The Steelers finally got off the schneid with a big home win over the Bengals on Monday. Baltimore may be the better team on paper, but losses on defense in the offseason are starting to catch up. Steelers cover and have a shot at the outright win.

The Pick: Pittsburgh Steelers +3 (-105)

New England Patriots at Washington Redskins, 1 PM, CBS

The Patriots found themselves in a dogfight with the Bills last week, but they managed to leave Buffalo with a win. The Redskins were flat and got pounded by the Giants, and they returned to the nation’s capital with questions surrounding the starting quarterback for this week’s game. New England will demonstrate their offense is working just fine against a team with serious problems.

The Pick: New England Patriots -15.5 (-105)

Jacksonville Jaguars at Carolina Panthers, 1 PM, CBS

The Jaguars escaped Denver with a victory over the Broncos on Sunday, while the Panthers picked up a road upset of their own over the Texans. After rough starts to the year, both clubs are playing much better with backup quarterbacks at the helm. Gardner Minshew has shown a lot in two straight wins, as has the Jaguars’ defense. The magic continues for another week.

The Pick: Jacksonville Jaguars +3.5 (-105)

Atlanta Falcons at Houston Texans, 1 PM, FOX

If you take away the home win over the Eagles in Week 2, the Falcons haven’t looked right through four games. The Texans are finding themselves in tight contests each week, and they have a 2-2 record to show for it. While they have shown more than Atlanta through four games, this spread is a bit too high for a team that can’t seem to land a knockout shot.

The Pick: Atlanta Falcons +5 (-105)

Denver Broncos at Los Angeles Chargers, 4:05 PM, CBS

The Broncos can’t buy a win at home, and they’re winless on the road as well. At 0-4, they head to Los Angeles to take on a Chargers’ team which is 2-2. Last week, they blew out the Dolphins on the road, but they were also actually trailing the league’s worst team in the first quarter. Denver’s first win of the year may not happen this week, but they can make it interesting.

The Pick: Denver Broncos +6.5 (-105)

Green Bay Packers at Dallas Cowboys, 4:25 PM, FOX

A showdown of two NFC powerhouses from Jerry World makes a fine capper for an afternoon of pigskin action. Both of these teams are looking to bounce back from close losses, and they also happen to bring two of the best defenses in the league to the table. It shapes up as a close slugfest. Packers cover in a game that goes down to the wire.

The Pick: Green Bay Packers +3.5 (-105)
