NFL Parlay Picks: Week 1 (2019)

The NFL regular season finally gets underway this week. We’ve all had plenty of time to mull over the Week 1 game lines. Said another way, it’s go time.

While individual game calls form the basis of a sound handicapping strategy, taking a crack at a big parlay ticket or pool contest with a small portion of the bankroll can help to enhance the entertainment value, and hopefully your bankroll as well.

Each week, we’ll share our picks for each of the games on the Sunday afternoon docket via this article. All odds are current as of this writing and courtesy of PointsBet.

Tennessee Titans at Cleveland Browns, 1 PM, CBS

After an entire offseason of hype, we now get to see the product that the Browns will bring to the field in 2019. While we agree that Cleveland should improve in 2019, we’re going to tap the brakes a bit. The Titans are a tough and well-coached squad which will make a game of it.

The Pick: Titans +5.5 (-105)

Baltimore Ravens at Miami Dolphins, 1 PM, CBS

While head coach Brian Flores is singing a different tune, the Dolphins have done everything but waive the white flag on the coming season. The Ravens lost some pieces on defense in the offseason, but they still shouldn’t have much trouble in this opening week road date.

The Pick: Ravens -6.5 (-105)

Atlanta Falcons at Minnesota Vikings, 1 PM, FOX

This is one of the more intriguing matchups of the day. The Vikings are just a year removed from a title game appearance and remain loaded with talent. We see a big rebound coming in Minnesota, and it begins with a victory and cover in the home opener.

The Pick: Vikings -3.5 (-105)

Buffalo Bills at New York Jets, 1 PM, CBS

A field goal favorite at home indicates a toss-up, and that’s what we have here. Both of these clubs made some intriguing moves in the offseason. Unfortunately for the Jets, the secondary is a clear weak spot. We like the Bills to take advantage of that shortcoming in a close one.

The Pick: Bills +3 (-105)

Washington Redskins at Philadelphia Eagles, 1 PM, FOX

To be clear, the Eagles are a much better team than the Redskins. However, giving up 10 points in Week 1 to a division rival which has had to deal with being summarily dismissed all summer seems a bit rich. We like Washington to keep it closer than expected.

The Pick: Redskins +10 (-105)

Los Angeles Rams at Carolina Panthers, 1 PM, FOX

The defending NFC champs get to open up the season on the road versus a Panthers team which has a number of questions. Cam Newton is said to be back to normal, but we’re not so sure about the defense which collapsed down the stretch in 2018.

The Pick: Rams -1.5 (-105)

Kansas City Chiefs at Jacksonville Jaguars, 1 PM, CBS

The Jaguars didn’t look like anything special in the preseason, but we can say the same about a number of squads for a lackluster month of exhibition games. The defense remains loaded with talent, and they’ll kick it up a notch now that the games matter and make the Chiefs work for it.

The Pick: Jaguars +3.5 (-105)

Indianapolis Colts at Los Angeles Chargers, 4:05 PM, CBS

Prior to the retirement of Andrew Luck, the spread was hovering around a field goal. The Chargers are now big home favorites, but the Colts aren’t about to fold up like tents. We’re looking for Jacoby Brissett and company to keep this one closer than expected.

The Pick: Colts +6.5 (-105)

Cincinnati Bengals at Seattle Seahawks, 4:05 PM, CBS

Giant spreads in Week 1 of the regular season can make us feel skittish at times. This is not one of those times. The Seahawks have one of the best home-field advantages in the NFL, a stout defense, and will be welcoming a team with a rookie head coach. The rout is on.

The Pick: Seahawks -9.5 (-105)

New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys, 4:25 PM, FOX

While there is a clear separation between the top two teams in the NFC East and the bottom two squads, this is another spread that’s too rich for our blood. We may see it differently if the Ezekiel Elliott situation didn’t drag on so long, but the Giants can make this one interesting.

The Pick: Giants +7.5 (-110)

Detroit Lions at Arizona Cardinals, 4:25 PM, FOX

In last year’s opener, Cardinals rookie head coach Steve Wilks watched his team get slapped around by the Redskins on their home field. Kliff Kingsbury is well aware of how things turned out for Wilks. The Cardinals are a work in progress, but they’re also live dogs in Week 1.

The Pick: Cardinals +2.5 (-105)

San Francisco 49ers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 4:25 PM, FOX

The last game on our list has the closest spread of the day. Unsurprisingly, it’s also the toughest one to figure. Both of these squads are among those who could improve a lot in 2019. In the end, we like the tenure of Bruce Arians in Tampa Bay to begin with a close win.

The Pick: Buccaneers -1 (+100)
