Friday's Best NFL Preseason Picks & Bets
(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)
Philadelphia Eagles (+1.5) vs. New York Jets (-126) | O/U 34.5
The Philly offense was night and day from the first to the second preseason game, but that's not surprising with QBs 1 and 2 on the bench last week. Tanner McKee is expected to play more, with several reports talking about how well Jalen Hurts looked in the final practice session, don't count on seeing him.
No one has been ruled out for the Jets, but don't expect to see the starters for long (if we see them at all). That being said, as a first-year head coach of a team with a recent history of losing, Aaron Glenn could use a win more than Nick Siriani.
New York needs the win more, but according to reports, Glenn will err on the side of caution and play starters little (if at all). Nick Siriani and the Eagles have better scrubs than Glenn and the Jets.
Pick: Eagles Moneyline (+108)
Atlanta Falcons (+118) vs. Dallas Cowboys (-2.5) | O/U 36.5
We are not going to see Michael Penix Jr. or Kirk Cousins, as Easton Stick will play the bulk of the game for the Falcons. Dallas will lean primarily on Joe Milton before giving way to Will Grier. Between the two 'starters,' Stick has played better and will face a Dallas defense that hasn't stopped anyone.
Atlanta has been competitive in its two preseason games, while the Cowboys have not. They've run the ball well and will likely do so again against a Dallas defense that can't slow anyone down. With the offense struggling to get any kind of traction, the Falcons will win this one.
Pick: Falcons Moneyline (+126)
Minnesota Vikings (+3.5) vs. Tennessee Titans (-198) | O/U 37.5
J.J. McCarthy is not expected to play, but the Titans will probably give Cam Ward some time as they try to prepare their rookie quarterback for Week 1. However, Brandon Allen will likely get the bulk of the snaps for Tennessee. Neither offense has been impressive, and with their better players seeing little time, if any, that will probably not change.
Defensively, the Vikings have an edge; they've been better in their two preseason games than the Titans.
The final preseason game is primarily about seeing who will get the last few spots on the roster. It's certainly not about winning or putting your best foot forward. That being said, the Vikings have more depth than the Falcons and should be able to win this one. But the Under may be more likely to hit.
Picks: Under 37.5 Total Points (-110) or Minnesota Moneyline (+166)
Chicago Bears (+110) vs. Kansas City Chiefs (-2.5) | O/U 41.5
Both teams plan on giving their starters some game time in this one, but we will likely see the Bears No. 1s a lot longer than we'll see the Chiefs. Chicago, as a perennial loser, gets a lot more out of winning preseason games than the Chiefs. While Andy Reid doesn't like being 0-2, he knows what matters.
No matter how much time Andy Reid gives his starters and primary backups, the game plan will be so vanilla that Bears fans will believe their team is really good. To be fair, Chicago has looked solid in the preseason and will look good tonight against the mighty Chiefs.
Pick: Bears Moneyline (+110)
