NFL Prop Bets: Week 8 (2019)

After this week, two months of the NFL season will be in the book. It has been wild thus far but there is so much more to play out and with more games comes more opportunities to win some money. Week 8 offers a plethora of NFL Prop Bets! But before we dive in head first, let’s recap the week that was.

It was not a great week for the record but the bankroll got a really nice bump. TY Hilton continued his dominance over the Texans going over his receiving total. Brandin Cooks was close but no cigar in Week 7. Evan Engram was dinged up and never got into the flow of the game. In Washington, nobody could get going with that downpour. But as I mentioned the bankroll got a nice bump thanks to Sony Michel who was 6/1 to score a touchdown and have his team win.

So where are we going to build the bankroll in NFL Week 8? Let’s check out what DraftKings Sportsbook has posted to find some winners!

Ryan Tannehill – Over 240.5 Passing Yards (-112)

Ryan Tannehill was a breath of fresh air for the Tennessee Titans pass attack a week ago. He looked strong throwing for 312 yards and two touchdowns. This week he only needs to eclipse 240.5 yards. Tannehill will face a Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense that, while stout against the rush, is abysmal against the pass. They have allowed the most passing yards thus far this season including four games of 300 plus passing yards.

Jameis Winston and the Buccaneers passing attack has been impressive thus far. He should find Mike Evans and Chris Godwin plenty. If the Buccaneers offense remains productive, the Titans offense will have to keep pace. I expect Tannehill to clear 250 passing yards and have a decent chance at back to back 300 passing yard performances. Take the over on his passing yards this week.

Derrick Henry – Under 65.5 Rushing Yards (-125)

As I mentioned with Ryan Tannehill, Tampa Bay has been great against opposing rushers. They haven’t allowed any running back to eclipse 65 rushing yards all season long. In fact, the only running back to break 40 rushing yards this season was Alvin Kamara.

This game will be placed firmly in the hands of the two quarterbacks this week. In fact, if you are looking for help in your fantasy football PPR leagues this should be a good week for Dion Lewis. In fact, his over/under for receiving yards is only 13.5 yards (+100). There is definitely value in that number.

Daniel Jones – Over 18.5 Rushing Yards (-107)

Whether it is by design or because of need, Daniel Jones has been utilizing his legs to gain ground for the Giants. This week he faces a Lions defense that has allowed quarterbacks to run wild. Patrick Mahomes had 54 rushing yards the week after Carson Wentz had 33 yards. This season Jones has gone over this total in three of his six starts. With Saquon Barkley and Evan Engram back in the fold, there should be running room for Jones this week. Take the over this week!

More Passing Yards – Jacoby Brissett (+110) or Joe Flacco?

I’m more than happy to take plus money with the better quarterback at home this week. Brissett has been incredibly impressive thus far this season. He has been improving as the season has gone along throwing for 250 yards in three of his last four starts including two games north of 300 yards. Joe Flacco, on the other hand, has only eclipsed 215 yards once all season. He also lost Emmanuel Sanders who was traded to the San Francisco 49ers earlier this week.

There is some concern Flacco has to throw against a defense that hasn’t been great against opposing passers. Four of the six quarterbacks that they have faced have torched them this season including Patrick Mahomes, Deshaun Watson, Matt Ryan, and Philip Rivers. The other two quarterbacks to face this defense were sub-200 passing yards. Those quarterbacks you ask? Marcus Mariota and Derek Carr. If we are putting Joe Flacco in either group, he fits much better in the latter group than the former. The Colts should have both Darius Leonard and Malik Hooker back for this contest
